Re: Interfaces (Firewire) Supported by FFADO?
Thunderbolt is not a USB4 adapter although USB4 / USB devices should work when plugged into a TB3/4 port. That's my limited understanding. I don't think the TB3 adaptor is going to work in USB4 (or TB4 even) but I'd be happy to be proven wrong, if somebody can figure out how to make it work. FW MOTU...

Re: Interfaces (Firewire) Supported by FFADO?
I am optimistic that you can connect firewire interfaces to the USB4 ports of the latest notebooks too. And how are you going to make it work? FFADO still performs great, but you can alsa drivers most times, too. Only firewire devices that are not running well under Linux are the MOTU interfaces - ...

Re: When is enough, enough..?
Or do what I do. Set up an all-singing and all-dancing laptop with a simple menuitem that can flip between Jack & Pipewire. Need one or the other? Just flip it over and done. Start to finish it takes between 5 to 10 seconds. Next on the todo list: Add Pulseaudio as another potential option to pi...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards
Does anybody know whether there is a way to use Pipewire as a client for Native Jack yet? One of the reasons for asking is that this could be useful to pipe consumer audio into Jack, instead of Pulseaudio as many are currently doing. This way It would also make it possible to use FFADO drivers, whic...

How many sound servers are already running on your system when you try to record?
inxi -Aa
Is pulseaudio disabled from starting?
Are you trying to use native jack or pipewire jack?

Re: The worst system tuning tips - collect them
That's impressive, so at least one distro apparently decided to tune their OS to work out of the box with contemporary media. You probably will still get lower latencies with ALSA or with Jack on ALSA but if Pipewire's working well enough for you not to need to bother switching that's great. It's ba...

Re: The worst system tuning tips - collect them
It's not my experience. In principle there is no problem with a PCIe to PCI bridge. Learn to read son. I didn't say there was a problem, I said there could be a performance hit. It's also not a stretch to go with the assumption that a native PCIe chipset would be preferable to a PCI chipset with a ...

Myth #6 - You must have a TI Chipset Firewire Card for best performance TI make good chipsets, also good fw chipsets. But not all TI chipsets are equal and neither are all TI fw chipsets equal. My understanding (limited) from reading on other sources is that some (or many) "TI chipset" PC...

Re: Kontakt 7 Laggy Interface
Hello, two questions for you: 1) How do you use it without the libraries pane loading? 2) How well does it work for you? The last time I tried it the xrunning made it unusable. I couldn't get it working well enough to make it worth the effort on Linux. Hello, I've been using Kontakt 7 for a bit and,...

Re: xruns when opening firefox
The entire point of my previous post was to explain to you that anything and everything that burdens your system is a potential source of xruns. You cannot just look at items in isolation and assume that it doesn't affect your system because it does affect your system. Further problems sometimes man...
