Re: total newb

Most people who review DAW's say that there are no bad DAW's. So it's a matter of taste (read: it doesn't matter ). However, in my opinion one should always choose software that is available in a native version for one's OS. So using Ableton via Wine: nope. You'd better use Reaper: they have a nativ...

Re: Behringer BCA2000 anyone?

It needs drivers in Windows and in the manual there's no mention of MacOS. So indeed chances that this device is class compliant are small.

Good luck in compiling the diver/kernel module, I'm very curious to see if that worked. :)

Re: Behringer UMC404HD stuttering / audio gaps

This pleases me even though I don't own the device. It's possible my +20 year-old M-Audio card will fail one of these years and the current selection of Linux-friendly cards doesn't seem very large. Me too. The amount of proper USB class compliant audio devices is surprisingly small. Even...

Re: can't install kxstudio-meta-all; using ubuntu studio 22

Sorry but you are spreading lies and FUD. This isn't based on anything. I use KX repositories on various debian and devuan based machines and they work absolutely fine. If you have issues with the repo please report them to falktx. I don't know for who your remark is meant. But I was only telling w...

[...] I have always managed to sucessfully use KXstudio with Ubuntu Studio in the past (up to 18.0), I am still trying to get used to the KDE plasma desktop, which is now the new default desktop. I'm still a bit concerned that this is a suitable desktop for my older laptop which is not the most pow...

Re: Trouble with WineASIO and Jack

I just switched to the native version of Reaper for Linux. What's the best way to reduce latency when using the RealTone cable? EDIT: I switched Jack2 to use ALSA instead earlier as well. The result is located in my previous post. The Realtone cable you are referring to appears to be made for a gam...

Re: Behringer UMC404HD stuttering / audio gaps

RiccardoZaniboni : There's a bug report on this problem here [edit: like bluzee wrote just now above my post]. I'm afraid there's no other solution than to hope that the bug in the USB audio driver for this particular card will be fixed. It looks like on kernels 5.18 and up it might be fixed but I'...

Re: Which controller for Linux DAW mint

1. What (USB) audio device do you use? We Linuxers used to be just fine using the Behringer U-Phoria series. It was class compliant (read: no drivers needed!) but now there's a problem with 'm since B. changed the hardware a bit ( link Bugzilla ). 2. You prefer Techno. Do you have that mighty fine E...

Re: CLAP: The New Audio Plug-in Standard

To quote from https://lwn.net/Articles/893048/ (my emphasis) Developers want to write once and be able to compile for all architectures, OSes, etc. JUCE is the de-facto standard and overall king in this realm. Without JUCE buy-in, a new format will just muddy up the waters for development and be an...
