Re: lets talk about apple mac
Are you happy with your linux-audio-system? Yep, very. I cannot recall the last time it took me a lot of time to set it up either. I think that once you are over the top of the learning curve, and you know what you are doing, Linux is really not different from anything else in terms of performance ...

Re: Why I can't get away from Windows (for now)
Hi! I think the exchange is interesting, so I will jump in. Being a die-hard Linux user is sort of likee being an exclusive barefoot runner. Limitations like what? I don't see any significant besides Dante protocol, but it's way out of scope of home/stage user. Others are lack of knowledge or intell...

Re: Stay Tuned Studio Music 64 debian buster + kx studio based
Hi Gennaro! Interesting project, thanks for sharing! I would suggest you double check whether you want to describe your project as a "distro". There isn't a rigid definition of what a distro is, and your project would definitely fit the bill, however most people associate a distro with som...

Re: 256GB Micro SD Card not deteted properly on Ubuntu Studio 19.04
Hi! Is the SD Card formatted? If so, what is the file system? Chances are that you might need to install a package to enable support for the filesystem your SD card is formatted with.

Re: Crowdfunding official audio interface support
I agree with everything Merlyn said. If a company does not want to develop drivers for Linux, has never planned for it, and has no intention to do so, or even human resources to allocate for the tasks associated with it, then a one off payment will not change that. Not to mention: they will never ac...

Great stuff! Another addition to my already too long list of things to must try. I always wanted to play with this kind of things, or develop one even!

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
I think there's a solid chance you're right. I'm going to try Nix, though. I read some of the manual, and learned that after building a snapshot you can test it without making it the default, via `run nixos-rebuild test`. Seems pretty safe -- but it has a fearsome reputation, so who knows. NixOS wa...

Re: NixOS and music: Experiences?
You are kidding right? I hope that you are kidding. You cannot have both jack1 and jack2 installed on a same system. Indeed, they conflict. As far as I know, NixOS would get around this though, as you will be able to boot into different snapshots, each one with its own applications. So, to be clear...

Re: HOWTO: Quick Frequency Response Measurements Using JAPA and Faust
Is it ok to choose the Generic EQ in REW? Yes And which slope factor to use in the LSP EQ then and what type of EQ (resonance?)? Settings: I set up the first equalizer in the LSP parametric EQ as in your settings as an example. See below. The slope control does not affect the APO style of filter. h...

Re: HOWTO: Quick Frequency Response Measurements Using JAPA and Faust
Hi there! Sorry for the late replies, being really busy these days. Does the latency correction play any role when doing such measurements with random noise?? Yes, absolutely. Without latency correction the reference signal arrives at JAPA before the measurement signal does. So, the quotient is not ...
