Re: Trying to get a Behringer UMC404HD working with JACK.

Could you paste here the output of the following informative command from a terminal window?
arecord -l && aplay -l

And also the contents of the message window of qjackctl.

Lets hope we can narrow down the source of the problem.

Re: Trying to get a Behringer UMC404HD working with JACK.

"System" in the jack audio connections doesn't refer to the onboard interface. Jack uses the generic name "system" for the audio interface it is currently using. Just make sure that you configure jack to use the UMC404HD interface for input and output. See also: http://libremusic...

Re: Cadence cannot start Jack anymore...

Hi ONNogitaar In recent linux kernel versions (some) firewire interfaces are supported directly, without the need of the (not included in the kernel) ffado drivers. The drivers of the audio interfaces in the linux kernel are also called "alsa drivers" (alsa: advanced linux sound architectu...

Re: Webcam does not show up in CADENCE

Hi, However, it does not show up in CADENCE as an Device or Interface. I suppose the webcam only has a capture device, not a playback device. That could be the reason why Cadence doesn't see it. If my supposition is right, the webcam will be listed by: arecord -l (list of capture hardware devices) B...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux

You are right. There is not clock drifting if you use the same device for input and output. That said, just using hw:USB in the interface field (and the default audio dúplex mode) should be enough to get the USB card ready for input and output. Also, now that I have read your blog post again and und...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux

Nice review and songs! A suggestion if you don't have speakers connected to the Focusrite, so you want to capture with the Focusrite and, at the same time, hear through the computer speakers. I have recorded lately in a similar situation. What I do is choosing the USB card as the Interface in the Pa...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on Linux help!

Ok, so I started jackctl / setup / interface / 2i2
Then, start jack (Start button on qjackclt's main window).

Note that jack uses a generic word, "system", for the audio interface. For you it is the 2i2 because you selected that in qjackctl's setup.

Re: 2 audio interfaces as input

But if you plug in two separate interfaces on two separate in's they IMHO should be recognized. Shouldn't they? Yes And if so then they can be brought together in for instance Ardour. And within ardour you can assign. Yes. However, if you use jack, you need alsa_in/alsa_out to get the audio inputs/...

Re: 2 audio interfaces as input

The OP needs two interfaces as _audio_ input for jack. You can't do that without resorting to alsa_in or zita-a2j (I haven't ever tried making a virtual device in some alsa configuration file, but that could be another option). I would just use alsa_in, as others have suggested. 42low, you are using...

Re: Linking Hydrogen BPM to Ardour

Hi,

You want hydrogen as a Jack transport slave, so J trans enabled but j Master disabled.

In ardour preferences, sync, external timecode source: Jack.
Also, in the main window, on the left, below the transport buttons there is a pushbutton which defaults to Int and must be set to Jack.

Re: Nektar GX 61 Not connecting to Bitwig. Running JACK on Kubuntu 16.04

I don't use bitwig but, assuming It uses jack midi, you have to bridge alsa midi hardware to jack midi. Not sure about how to do this in Cadence but in a terminal this command should do the trick: a2jmidid -e & Then, you should see the hardware in any Jack connections manager, Jack midi under a2j.

Good, but I want that to work automatically, without intervention. So I tried these: JackOutLeft = "jack:playback_1" JackOutRight = "jack:playback_2" and JackOutLeft = "playback_1" JackOutRight = "playback_2" None of this is working. What else can I try? jack...
