Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
@brummer: re svn@415 getting a problem with distortion effect: getting massive output overload when low/high cutoff is enabled. [edit] that was starting with the cutoff enabled. Having disabled it, deleted .guitarix and reinstalled, the cutoff kills the output when enabled. Restarting the app is nee...

Re: System setup
sudo su -c 'echo @audio - rtprio 99 >> /etc/security/limits.conf' : that should be either: su -c 'echo @audio - rtprio 99 >> /etc/security/limits.conf' or sudo 'echo @audio - rtprio 99 >> /etc/security/limits.conf' "audio:x:29:pulse:smaring": It doesn't matter that pulse is in that line. I...

Re: control open "hw:0" (No such file or directory)
I thought if I could get it to work with the onboard card then making the M-audio card work would be a doddle. Is this correct? Not necessarily. You'll still have to configure the m-audio card, but we know for a fact that _will_ work. I would get that going if it's the one you intend to use. Linux-...

Re: control open "hw:0" (No such file or directory)
my set up: I have a M-audio delta44 sound card which is the same chipset ice1712 as yours. And that's it really. I've got other hardware plugged into that: mixer, fx etc. I don't do a lot of midi stuff, sequencing etc. but I use various softsynths like qsynth, qsampler, yoshimi and azr3. I play thes...

Re: control open "hw:0" (No such file or directory)
The "control open "hw:0" (No such file or directory)" was due the onboard sound being the default, but if you disabled it, it would not be available hence the message. you could just ignore this and set any audio apps to use hw:1 like you did with jack. However really you want to...

Re: Is this Linux setup good enough?
@Chipfryer: cool! Have you discovered envy24control yet? Its the best soundcard mixer app for your chipset and is in the alsa-tools-gui package ( that's what its called on debian - should be same on ubuntu ) wrt to myspace, you-tube etc you need to get the flashplayer for linux from Adobe and instal...

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
@Brummer: congrats on new release! I agree Guitarix is very stable and bug-free ( is software ever entirely bug-free? ). Thanks for increasing the max number of samples: typically some of the IRs I am using are just over the 200000 mark ( 220000 - 250000 ). The new 2-channel set-up is great, I very ...

Re: Is this Linux setup good enough?
I'm glad to be of some help! Please note that I wrote UbuntuStudio and not plain Ubuntu, although the latest version of this comes with an rt kernel. I don't do a lot a lot of midi stuff ( sequencing etc ) but I found that my M-audio usb midi keyboard worked straight out of the box with apps like Qs...

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
funkmuscle wrote re svn@395: ...and I like the new touches. Me too! The new-style controls are easier to use I think. Is there a reason for the 200000 sample limit in the IR memory setting? Or did that seem big enough? Its not a problem although I do have IRs that are bigger than that. Your delay id...

Re: Is this Linux setup good enough?
Yes Gary sorry to be a pain. I boot to the RT Kernel before trying. Not a problem. If you don't boot to the rt kernel you won't be able to do any real rt. sudo "useradd -G audio username" Results in.. sudo: useradd -G audio USERNAME: command not found looks like you need to install the ad...

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
@funkmuscle: I set mine to 256 which is the same as my jack frames/period setting. @brummer: I gave svn@393 a good workout this morning, no problems. WRT having ardour-projects on "faulty" data drive: I understand, but I was thinking that if the drive behaviour has a negative effect on Gui...

Re: Is this Linux setup good enough?
You should check that you're a member of the audio group, in a terminal type "groups" (w/o quotes). Is "audio" listed? if not type this, keeping the quotes this time: sudo "useradd -G audio username " change username to your actual username of course. You could also may...

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix
@Brummer I only get occasional xruns with ardour. Not enough to be a problem. Yes, loading sessions is usually when they happen. But then the ide driver resets the drive to udma/100 - if it hasn't already - and the problems go away. I sometimes get an xrun when recording, which is annoying, but does...
