Re: Ardour/Hydrogen - no sound output
Are you getting any sound when jack is _not_ running (killall jackd if necessary) - playing an mp3 for example?

Re: A New Song
Thanks for your thoughts, Morko. Listening again with fresh ears, I agree to some extent that in places the drums are too busy. So I have published a new version which is a bit ( but not much! ) more tidy, mostly I have just removed some of the cymbals: http://www.garryo.org/music.html#things I thin...

Re: A New Song
Thanks for commenting, Autostatic.
The kit used was one built from the ns_kit7 drum sample library, which unfortunately is no longer freely available.
When you say "vibrant" did you mean too much reverb, or did you mean that you prefer a more damped, less ringing tone?

Re: A New Song
Thanks for the positive feedback, guys! Nobody got any nit-picking criticisms? Oh well. :( @Matt: I don't know about talent, more like 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration! My apologies for not commenting sooner, but I enjoyed the Halo Blue tracks. I would say your singer (you?) has a lot more off th...

A New Song
I've published a new song "Things To Come" which you can download here: http://www.garryo.org/music.html#things in .ogg and mp3 formats. It was recorded in Ardour, drums are courtesy of Hydrogen, synths are Yoshimi. Audacity, Jconvolver, Jc_gui and various LADSPA plugins were also used. Yo...

Re: Hi all what have you been up to of late?
Apart from slogging away at my day-job: I've been mixing some new songs. With any luck I'll get to post one of these this weekend. I watched some good films: Park Chan-Wook's "Thirst" and Tomas Alfredson's "Let the Right one in". Both vampire films - but not what you'd expect. Hi...

Re: noisegate
The docs for Steve Harris plugins at http://plugin.org.uk/faq.php lists one (plugin 1922) but it doesn't seem to be included in the latest set. The tap-dynamics plugin http://tap-plugins.sourceforge.net/ladspa/dynamics.html can operate as a stereo gate with function 14 - but I've not tried this. ~G.

Re: The Best of Effects For Creating Music On LInux
take a look at these guys: http://www.linuxdsp.co.uk/ IIRC these come as pre-compiled binaries. and then there is: [urlhttp://www.ladspa.org/][/url] the CAPS and TAP sets i'd recommend, but you have to compile them yourself. if i'm not mistaken you can get deb packages from the ubuntu repositories. ...
