Re: ODROID-N1 Announcement

...And all the above doesn't really matters because the H2 is already sold out:

At least this tells us that x86 is not dead yet ;-)

& It's alive (pre-order at least): https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-h2/ https://cdn.hardkernel.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/ODROID-H2_Main1.jpg The specs and price look competitive for an x86 server/desktop, not so much for a DIY appliance. The bummer for me is the power consumption: it ...

Re: How should a bug tracker be managed?

Regarding item #2: Trying to summarise various suggestions about how to avoid "necro-bugs" included: * assuming every issue older than X years is a won't-fix and closing it (assuming users will re-open a bug if needed) This is not exactly what I meant. Just cold closing is also bad, so let...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

It isn't intentional, but is a side-effect of the (old) version of Mantis we use. We allow (and intend for) "reporters" to close their own issues. But in the version of Mantis we have, there's nothing to limit that to their own issues. When we upgrade Mantis, this should "improve&quo...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

If I were the maintainer of the project I would appreciate it if someone would reach out first to coordinate before going on a closing spree. I stopped in 2005 after a solid 5-6 closures, and I'm still reading them, don't worry. I'll drop a note to Paul tomorrow on the official forum - worst case h...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

(that said, I just created an account in the bugtracker and closed some clearly-spam reports...) Interesting, it looks like anyone with a Mantis account can close anyone's tickets. So...I've started closing a few issues - starting in 2004, and will progress chronologically from there. I am not touc...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

This is of course obvious - it would be better if issues were triaged more closely, no one would argue with that. But there's only so much time in the day, and I don't think we should be harsh on maintainers because they might not be spending their time on the things you'd like them to spend time o...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

If that's all it takes, why not reach out to Paul and Robin and offer up an hour of your time each year to take care of that for them? I'm sure they'd appreciate the help. One hour for someone actively involved with the project. I already thought about it, but I'm not even an active user at this po...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

I fail to see how writing open source software, in any way mandates that you support it... Writing open source software does not in any way mandates that the author(s) provide also support (especially for free). But then, there is no point in opening a publicly accessible bug tracker and asking use...

Re: ODROID-N1 Announcement

Well that me out then. These days I won't touch anything from Intel :( Can't blame you, but I might get one for my next NAS actually - as the lesser of two evils. I've been growing tired of the rabbit hole with ARM SOCs and custom kernels. I need a more hands off approach as well as timely security...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

Other end of support: (not related to Ardour) - Create one big bug, and close bugs as duplicate that are covered with that - After 1.5 years, close that big bug 'because it's too broad. Please raise a new issue if you have a specific problem, including as much detail as possible.' https://github.co...

Re: Ardour - support only for official builds?

I am calling BS here. The Ardour bugtracker has 2600+ open entries some that are untouched for 10y+ years. http://tracker.ardour.org/view_all_bug_page.php?filter=82504&page_number=54 This is not how a healthy open source project looks like. This is not how Professional Support looks like. I don'...

Re: GxPlugins.lv2 v0.5 released

Dammit, just when I have a use case for 44,1kHz ;-) Out of nostalgia, I have been trying to resuscitate my old techno live set made with Jeskola Buzz a few eons ago, and sending the 36 outputs from Buzz to to Ardour 5.12 works wonders (I was previously using Renoise as a mixer). But more importantly...
