Re: One month and counting without RT kernel on Arch Linux
...and in the meantime, look what just made it to the AUR: linux-rt 4.19.10 You can install a pre-built RT kernel by adding this unofficial user repository. I prefer to build stuff myself in a clean chroot rather than use third party repos whenever possible, but it is true that 4.19 RT did take a s...

Re: One month and counting without RT kernel on Arch Linux
@merlyn: thanks the precisions, I never looked too far into the stock Arch kernel. I should have made more clear that stock Arch <> vanilla, but anyway this is true for more or less any distro. ...and in the meantime, look what just made it to the AUR: linux-rt 4.19.10 https://aur.archlinux.org/pack...

It's been a while since the last update, is the project still going?

Re: Zrythm - A free GNU/Linux Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) focused on electronic music and high modularity
Sorry for misleading you guys, I didn't mean to dump Ardour/Bitwig just yet Yes it is a very fresh project. The website is two days old, the gitlab master repo is getting updated daily, and there was no official announcement. But for a 6 month old one man project, I think this is pretty impressive a...

Re: One month and counting without RT kernel on Arch Linux
But, What are the minimun settings for audio work with stock kernel? Maybe add user to audio group and config the /etc/security/limits.conf file? This thread assumes a system already tuned for low latency audio work. (distro specific, but https://github.com/raboof/realtimeconfigquickscan is your fr...

Re: One month and counting without RT kernel on Arch Linux
Ha! I just had to reboot on 4.18 RT to open an old Renoise project. It is not night and day by any mean, but I have slightly less xruns (possibly also because of jack1). So 4.18 RT still has a tiny edge over stock 4.19/4.20 I would say, but it's a very close call. This makes me wonder how 4.19 RT wi...

Zrythm - A free GNU/Linux Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) focused on electronic music and high modularity
Hi Folks, Just spotted a new DAW in the Arch User Repository (I didn't try it but from the screenshots it looks rather good). Description from the site: About Zrythm Zrythm is built using C and the GTK+3 toolkit and borrows ideas, concepts and code from other projects such as Ardour, Jalv, Bitwig an...

One month and counting without RT kernel on Arch Linux
Hi Guys, Every once in a while I try the stock Arch Linux kernel with my reference low latency audio setup - just to see how it goes against the RT Kernel from the Arch User Repository. The experiment usually doesn't last for long, but this time it is going a lot better: I was quite surprised to fin...

Re: CPU Load - Renoise
Just a wild guess as I didn't see it mentioned: did you configure the number of CPUs to be used the same in both hosts?

Re: new GxBoobTube.lv2
I love it too! Not for guitar, but as a soft saturator / brickwall limiter for drums and samples - the things for which the ValveCaster has too much gain. I found it to perform exactly as you described & the default setting with the gain at 0.15 seems to hit the right spot. With those plugins I ...

Re: MIDI sequencer with piano roll and audio export function
Possibly Modular: for MIDI sequencer: seq64 https://github.com/sauraen/seq64 , keyboard: jack-keyboard http://jack-keyboard.sourceforge.net/ . You load the instruments in for example Carla, Lmms, ... and Ardour also for instruments and for sound recording and editing? Adding Giada, although this is...

Re: ODROID-N1 Announcement
For the minimalistic configuration with passive cooling I want to replace, it is actually spot on. I don't want any software RAID or ZFS, and only use standalone drives with ext4 (with LVM if needed) - drives which are also spinned down when not in use. Eventually I'll have a look at bcache to speed...
