Re: Trouble with Best Service/Magix Engine library (Era II Medieval Legends)

I've got mono installed on my system but the plugin doesn't work. I've tried installing dotnet4.8 into the prefix with winetricks but it says "mono doesn't appear to be installed" . I think maybe that's preventing dotnet from installing but I'm not sure. It does also say "dotnet40 doe...

Re: Trouble with Best Service/Magix Engine library (Era II Medieval Legends)

Can anyone help me get Mono and .NET Framework 4.8 installed into my Lutris prefix?

I'm guessing @gerardlouw won't reply anytime soon as it looks like they just made an account to post that message.

I've been waiting years to use this plugin and I'm so close now!

Cheers.

Re: Trouble with Best Service/Magix Engine library (Era II Medieval Legends)

For the next person who finds this on Google... The "File Not Found" dialog is a red herring. That's just what you see when you haven't activated a product yet. I noticed the following error message in the console whenever I tried to load an instrument: 0168:err:mscoree:CLRRuntimeInfo_Get...

Re: CLAP: The New Audio Plug-in Standard

I just read about this. It sounds promising but I imagine they'll have a hard time getting a lot of the well known plugin companies to adopt anything open-source. Still, us Linux users will surely see some good benefits from this :) I'm quite interested to know what some of you plugin developers thi...

Re: how do I set WINE defaults to 128/48000?

If you figure out how to get wineasio working in Arch or whatever derivative you may be using then please say how you did it. I've installed it from the AUR also and I've never been able to get it working. I have used wineasio in the past though and it makes a noticeable difference to latency so I w...

Thanks for the screenshot. It looks nice enough :) I've reinstalled it so will give it another shot at some point. Hopefully it's a bit more intuitive to use now.

Re: The state of Linux DAWs in 2021?

Does anyone have any nice screenshots or videos of MusE v4? I tried MusE recently and the combination of finding it extremely difficult to figure out how to use and the look of the interface just put me off. I know I'm not done with it though as it definitely needs more of a chance. I want to give i...

Good for you being able to do that. I would trial and error my way to success or just give up

I do a combo of reading the official manual, watching tutorial videos (official & unofficial) and just using the program of course. When I get really stuck then I ask on forums. But seriously, who the f.... Some of you read the source code to learn how to use a DAW!? That's so beyond me.. God da...

Well that's cool. I love that people are still using trackers. They have such retro vibes :) See you around the forum then.

Re: Hi everyone

Yeh I think that confirms what I was thinking. I can see the workflow would be very fast once you get used to it but it seems a bit too specialised for my liking. By the time I started with music software, trackers were less popular so it's just not what I learned with. They've always intrigued me t...

Re: Hi everyone

I know this isn't the point of this topic but I want to ask anyway - Do you guys like trackers just because you started with them or do you think they offer some kind of benefit over the DAWs most of us use? I had a go with Renoise a while back and while I thought it was cool n all, I just didn't se...

Re: Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).

That's what all of my weekends were like 2012-2013. :) The situation is considerably better now though. I honestly think you should just start by mostly using plugins you're already familiar with on Win / Mac or that people are commonly using on those platforms. The "Linux-only" stuff ten...
