Re: Distribution services & Collection societies/P.R.O.s
Thanks for the suggestions :) I'm not keen on CDBaby so will avoid them. Distrokid has a recurring fee which is the biggest issue for me. I don't want any recurring fees. I already use RouteNote but it has payment issues for me which are that they automatically pay out your royalties every month. I'...

Distribution services
I'm looking for a music distribution service that meets the following requirements: * No recurring fees of any sort. Either free to release or pay a one time fee upfront. * Royalty payments on request rather than every month automatically. * Doesn't require Paypal. * Soundcloud monetisation. * YouTu...

Re: Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).
Because it was meant to be an experiment to see if I could replace all of my Windows music software with Linux music software. If/when that succeeds, I was then going to see if I could be happy making music with only open source software. I've replaced all of the other software I use for Linux nativ...

Re: Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).
Plugins are actually the least of my worries. There's a few cool, creative Image-Line plugins I use in FL Studio which I'd miss but I know can live without them and probably find some kind of replacements. I love u-he stuff and they're my go to company, Linux or not. My main issue with Linux is the ...

Re: Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).
They're in the .lv2 folder in home where my other lv2 plugins are. Maybe that's why it won't detect them. It detects the others though so that's weird. I'll try moving them. Thanks for the tip. I think I'm probably putting this experiment on hold for a while anyway. I've spent the entire weekend mes...

Re: Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).
Yeh I'm sure I've done everything right. Qtractor just can't see them for some reason. It can see other lv2 plugins though

Re: Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).
Ah yeh. I didn't even think to look for those x42 plugins there as they're commercial. I've installed them though so I'm just waiting for Harisson to get back to me with a license file now.. By the way, I'm having some issues with Dragonfly reverb plugins. First of all, what are the formats I've dow...

Re: Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).
Thanks for the suggestions! I've added them all to my list and will gradually work through them :) LV2 is no issue at the moment because I'm using Qtractor. I'm not sure if MusE can use them though..? There's also a chance I'll end up using Waveform. I'm going to have to lookup using Carla for Sound...

Essential Linux plugins? (Mainly looking for SFZ & SoundFont players).
As some of you might know, I've been making music on Linux for years but have been doing this with Windows software via Wine. I've decided it's time to try making music in Linux native software again to see if I can get a setup I'm happy with. I'm working on a new music project where I'll be doing d...

Re: Plugins/samples for Medieval/Dungeon Synth music?
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking into pianoteq :) Dungeon Synth is basically the medieval style synthetic bits of music you sometimes hear on black metal albums but more so the stuff from 20+ years ago. That's a bit of a simple explanation but it gives you a good idea. By the way, can you guys...

Re: Website builder / hosting service?
Yeh I actually did have a WordPress blog years ago and I remember using my account to comment on other people's blogs, even blogs that weren't on WordPress I think.. But yeh, you get the following for attention thing on most sites. Though I suppose the worst case scenario is you can just ignore them...

Re: Website builder / hosting service?
Yeh I'm kinda interested in giving it a shot for fun one night actually. I remember doing some basic html on Myspace back in the day but nothing too fancy. Maybe 'Thomas Myspace editor' is still knocking around somewhere so I could use that to generate some code  Yeh I miss those Geocities site...

Re: Website builder / hosting service?
Thanks guys. That's some useful info and definitely cleared up a few things for me :) I'll have to spend a couple of evenings messing about with WordPress to see what I can do. By the way, have you heard of Neocities? I thought it looked cool and cheap to use but you need to know HTML and I'm not qu...

Re: Website builder / hosting service?
Thanks for the advice. I have been looking at WordPress but some things about them and this whole process in general confuse me. I hope you can help.. 1. WordPress confuses me so much when it comes to accepting payments on there. * You can create an eCommerce site starting at $8 a month: https://wor...

Website builder / hosting service?
I'm looking into making my own website which will be a hub for a few different things such as all of my music projects, a podcast, offering mixing & mastering services and more. I'd need to do things such as embedding music/videos from streaming services, sell music via the site, have a news sec...
