Re: How can a newb like myself get my midi piano working with Linux?

BTW, I have no idea how to use USB midi either, I’m used to the old 5 pin stuff. I've found USB MIDI to be plug and play. It's less complicated to use USB MIDI with a computer than 5 pin MIDI as it doesn't require a MIDI interface. Plugging this keyboard directly into my laptop does absolutely noth...

Re: Supported Audio Interface Information

Yes, that's a refreshing change from the usual corporate-speak. If it works, great. On the subject of specs ... The specs I found for the Minifuse were in the manual. Dynamic range 110dB (typical). The 'typical' means there is some variation between units. It's good, but it's the same as a Behringer...

Re: M Audio Keystation 49 MK3 No Midi Connection

When I plug a MIDI keyboard in JACK automatically recognises it and sets up inputs and outputs. I don't have to run a2jmidid . A USB keyboard when plugged in appears as JACK MIDI. To take JACK out the equation you could use ALSA. First find what port your keyboard is on with aconnect -l $ aconnect -...

I've got an idea for your novel : Asbak and the Truth-O-Scope™ in the Land of Floating Bricks So let's say you have a window into the truth that most people don't have, and that you got this through technological means -- the Truth-O-Scope™, brought to us by the same people as diabetes-in-a-can. The...

Re: Anyone Leaving Spotify After Joe Rogan Incident?

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, as the saying goes. Cliche. Who has the monopoly on what is harmful vs not harmful, or truth vs falsehoods, or accuracy vs faults, right vs wrong. Maybe you think you landed something with this rhetorical question, but again it's an emotional argument...

Re: Anyone Leaving Spotify After Joe Rogan Incident?

Introduction to Science Here we will conduct an experiment to determine if house bricks float. Apparatus One brick Experiment Go outside. Hold the brick at arm's length and let go. Results The brick hits the ground. Analysis and conclusions Bricks do not float. That's the scientific method. There's...

asbak, asbak, asbak, what are we going to do with you? It seems you haven't thought this through. If you don't get science, fair enough, but why then are you making pronouncements on the subject? Using a musical analogy if professional scientists are like accomplished musicians, the hokey and homesp...

Re: Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)

... So to solve this, the Z-series apparently sends an ADAT optical signal to the SPDIF destinations to use a clock reference. I think this is where things are becoming as clear as muck. That is not what is happening. Any attempt to do anything with the clock on devices attached to the z-systems bo...

Re: Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)

Would it need to do resampling for all inputs? That would work and I can't think of any other way to do it. ... why couldn't it work the same or similar as on the Z-series which apparently solves that problem? You've maybe missed the significance of sample rate conversion. Re-sampling from 44.1kHz ...

How are you proposing sync would work? If there are four synths and an interface, that's five clocks to sync.

Re: Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)

If you use Linux you can forget Dante. Alternatives are Ravenna which is an open standard, and AVB, also an open standard. Still networked audio doesn't solve the problem of getting a sync signal into a device. Say we have a synth that has an SPDIF output only. It has to be the master clock as there...

Re: Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)

When dealing with sources such as samplers, A/D converters, DAT machines, and CD transports, it may not be possible to synchronize these pieces of gear so that they are locked to the ADAT. In this case, you should engage the z-8.8a's sample rate conversion (SRC) by pressing the synchronize button. ...

Re: Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)

Alternatively, another possibility (maybe?) is the RME Digiface which will do 4x ADAT or Toslink S/PDIF input and appears to be able to route those to a toslink arrangement of your choice. ... It requires a Windows or Mac host to control it, unfortunately, so if you need a standalone solution then ...

Re: I've created a bash bpm to ms calculator

Hi, I'd like to know the bpm of Audacity's default playback speed, and what percentile of change from that, would equal 1 bpm, which would be helpful using Hydrogen to add beats to a song in the creation progress, as well as retrofitting beats to music made without them. Google searches of audacity...
