Re: Midi Monitor for pipewire

I don't know exactly what gmidimonitor and midisnoop do but I check Midi via the command line with:

  1. Determine port number:

    Code: Select all

    aseqdump -l
  2. Watch Midi output:

    Code: Select all

    aseqdump -p <<<portnumber>>>>

:)

Re: Dual Keys & Split Keys with QSynth

Good question. Sometimes you need a Midi kbd. that supports splitting it in 2 Midi Channels for the left-hand and right-hand side. And sometimes the software synth supports this by pressing the key on the Midi kbd. where you'd like to split it in two (the hardware synth 'Streichfett' by Waldorf supp...

Re: Looking for a working stand alone Sequencer

[...] Just a note on ME [midieditor, software]. I use it occasionally for quick ideas, and for that, it does the job. However, there's only one patch map, which can't be changed. So if you're good with GM and that's it, then it's an option. I have more than one orchestral soundfont that isn't GM, a...

Re: How do I record separate tracks from Qtractor or Hydrogen into Ardour using Jack?

Maybe this is a trivial question, but why use 2 DAW's at the same time instead of one?

Re: Looking for a working stand alone Sequencer

I almost forgot about good 'ol midieditor . Also in every repo of every distro. I use it to make simple .mid files. Looks like this: Looks interesting, but Synaptic doesn't find it here on Ubuntu Studio. You're absolutely right! I spent half an hour looking for the repo from which I must have insta...

Re: Looking for a working stand alone Sequencer

Hi everyone! I am looking for a good stand alone sequencer solution under Linux, but I didn't find it yet My Problem is, that I want a simple and distraction free sequencer, where I can sketch some ideas and try them out with my preferred synthesizer. Like somebody else said: Seq24. It's been aroun...

Re: Problems with Bitwig performance

Same plugins running alone in carla-single work ok. And also making identical project in Harrison Mixbus works. Reported findings to Bitwig, will see if they have something relevant to say. So the problem might be the version of Bitwig you're running? What version do you have now and what version d...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.1 (AVL-MXe) Released!

Just downloaded it, it should still be active: https://bandshed.net/packages/AVL-MXe-23.1-Custom_Packages/yadbridge_0.1.3-bookworm1-1_all.deb I use a VPN. Apparently bandshed don't like that. And installs just fine now. You must have been right: something must have gone wrong w/ the download the fi...

Wow! Thanks for sharing man. Very kind of you. :D Of course, it's open source after all, why would I share an entire OS and not share a little fragment? I'm curious, does it work for you? What Distro are you using it on? Unfortunately, no. I get a very strange error on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 'Focal Fossa...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.1 (AVL-MXe) Released!

I saw something about YADBridge in the video. I only know about YABridge (notice the missing D here). Google can only find info on YABbridge. Is YADBridge a graphical frontend to YAB that you made yourself? YADbridge (a kindergarten-simple YAD frontend for yabridge) is included in AV Linux and is a...

Re: Hi! I'm Trawg

Here's some links to peruse: SRC Comparisons - You can select SRCs to compare. I use soxr-vhq in PulseAudio (I'm not totally in with Pipewire yet). It shows less artifacts than speex (Xiph.org Speex) in this test. Pipewire's default SRC is also selectable to compare. https://wiki.archlinux.org/titl...
