Yes perhaps, but EVERYBODY knows that your beats will sound better if you record them with Monster (TM) Cable.

Re: The worst system tuning tips - collect them
EDIT: Another another thing, PipeWire just released another update that further improves latency. It seems that Pipewire latency gets further and further improved every 2-3 weeks. It's young. Give it time to mature. Yasss I'm ok with that, I don't harbour unrealistic expectations. EDIT2: The vanill...

Re: How hard is life without PulseAudio?
Thank you very much revoxs, that could be interesting to try out. PipeWire can also run as a JACK client on top of the native JACK daemon if desired. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/2860 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/wikis/Config-JACK#jack-bridge https:...

Re: The worst system tuning tips - collect them
I guess perhaps some folks were over-eager and sold it as a replacement for jack (since it emulates parts of jack although it's not a complete replacement) which upset some of the others. It's a nice replacement for pulseaudio and yes in some cases the latency seems to be tunable low enough for live...

Re: The worst system tuning tips - collect them
I just had hours of fun trying to figure out why performance governor changes and tools were either not working or working randomly. It turns out that the nVidia power daemon running in systemd can really have fun with you while you're scratching your head wondering why the system won't clock above ...

Re: The worst system tuning tips - collect them
Yes perhaps my particular situation has some weird idiosyncrasies with it but it's strange that everything else worked way better, heck, even the stock kernel worked better. All I can tell you is that I must have burned a day or two trying to get things working with that infernal kernel and for audi...

Issues to pay attention to when tuning your Linux audio PC
There's a huge list of things to change to improve Linux Audio performance over stock distros. Here are some issues I have encountered with Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy or Mint 21.1 Vera, what else can you think of? 1) Stock kernels - Not good enough. Some kind of PREEMPT or "lowlatency" kernel work...

The worst system tuning tips - collect them
There are loads of tips & suggestions & old holdovers floating around about how to tune and set up your Linux Audio system. Many are confused, superseded, wrong, 1/2 explained, don't work, work badly and more. It's a confusing mess. Since I'm busy rebuilding all my PC's for Jammy 22.04 / Min...

Re: Pipewire, Jack Applications & Low-Latency tuning for soundcards
Hi there, My qualifications aren't so great, I just messed with Pipewire until it "sort of" worked better than the defaults but there'd probably be better methods, settings and things I missed out on and don't understand. Still, with the changes I posted it did seem to work a little better...

Re: How hard is life without PulseAudio?
Run PipeWire on top of native JACK PipeWire can also run as a JACK client on top of the native JACK daemon if desired. See JACK and PipeWire for more information. Haven't tied this, but they state it's possible... Yes that's an interesting reminder thanks. I also came across it but don't know how t...

Hit up your friendly MusE programmer/s for the answers, then you can post them here for posterity.

Re: Using RTC Clock versus Alsa HR timer
Have you got sysfsutils installed?
If it wasn't installed it'll need to be installed, then the config file may need to be edited again because the installation will probably overwrite the previous one.

That's nice. Now run Kontakt, a U-he synth and OBX-d at that setting and get back to us with the results.
