Re: Noise suppression in Ardour

There is a noise reduction tool in Audacity that does exactly this. It's not perfect, but it is easy to use and not bad at all.

Re: Korg NanoKEY Studio compatible w/Ubuntu-based distros?

Don't know about the Korg, but since you are shopping: the Akai LPK25 about the same price, has the same number of keys, is tiny (only 1/4 inch longer than the Korg), has "real" keys instead of pads, and works without a hitch.

Re: New release of GxPlugins (v0.3) is out

These are amazing tools and they come in handy for everything. I know the visuals are low on the list of priorities, but these look good too. You could make a couple small changes to make them stand out a little more: 1) Consider making the names of the individual effects easier to read. Brighter an...

Re: New batch of songs: Three on a Match

Hey Glen, belated thanks for the comments, I really appreciate them. You are definitely right that our expectations have changed sonically over the years. This past year I've been learning a lot more about mixing (AKA listening), something I've not really paid attention to in the past. As much as I ...

Re: Win the NEW Mixbus v4

So, it is so, However, a lot of guitarix users ask me steady for a place to donate, this here is a place to show the love. Hey Tramp, I signed up using your link because: 1) I would like to donate some $ to Guitarix but can never find out how (I use it constantly, it is the best thing ever!) ...

Re: New batch of songs: Three on a Match

This said, the music could be in many cases a bit more upfront, more bite, more edge. Not too much, a bit. Very astute and I absolutely agree. I have not had much edge myself the last few months due to some personal stuff, and I think the subdued performances reflect that more than any plugin could...

Thanks Sandy! I've listened to most of your videos and I think we have some very significant record collection overlap. :)

New batch of songs: Three on a Match

Hello everybody. I'm back with the third and final installment of my home-brew tunes for the year, give or take a few weeks: Three on a Match . If you like it, feel free to download it in whatever format you like (just put in zero for the amount). I continue to mix and match open and closed source, ...

Re: AV Linux 2017.4.9 Released!

Congrats, this looks incredible!

I've booted AV Linux from a flash drive a few times but I'm at a spot where I have a little breathing room and can install it on my main drive now. Great timing and thanks for all the work you put into this.

Re: Rated Blue tracking live with Mixbus 32C

Yes, blues is a big house. It's definitely helpful to have words to describe styles of music, but it gets muddy real fast. There's also 1000 different layers of race stuff involved with categorizing music. Look at Eric Clapton and Robert Cray. I don't know how you would categorize their music, but t...

Re: Rated Blue tracking live with Mixbus 32C

The best thing about all of it, what you do, and I do, and your son and everyone here who makes music, or codes: we are compelled to create stuff out of thin air. That's pretty awesome and it's more rare than we might think. What a great gift to be able to pick up a guitar or a (computer) keyboard a...

Re: Rated Blue tracking live with Mixbus 32C

That's beer talk. I don't want to derail the thread, but in short the experience totally changed my expectations and motivations for making music. The artists I worked for were mostly older and well established (I can PM you the details if you're curious), and right after I started, Napster arrived....

Re: Rated Blue tracking live with Mixbus 32C

Hey Glen, this is absolutely great work, sound and video alike. I spent a decade doing publishing admin and royalty accounting for some well-known artists in the genre, and the vibe and skill you guys have is head and shoulders above 97.388% of the blues acts out there. We are lucky to have you as s...
