Re: getting pulse devices to *stay* off
I haven't had any issues in a while. Maybe I've solved this!

Re: getting pulse devices to *stay* off
Thanks, I wasn't sure how to turn that off. I tried making ~/.config/pulse/default.pa as a copy of /etc/pulse/default.pa and editing the .config version to turn off all the automatic stuff I don't want. I suppose I'll need to log out and back in to see if it works.

getting pulse devices to *stay* off
I don't want to use any pulse devices besides the Jack bridge. I found I can go to system settings, in Audio > Configure, any hardware that shows up ever, set it to Profile: Off. This leaves only the Jack bridge as the only pulse option. How can I stop pulse from automatically turning on audio hardw...

Re: Options to add latency in order to sync with video better?
I'm really glad to hear about that option with pulse. It looks complicated but seems to be the ideal once I figure it out! Meanwhile, I did preliminary plugin tests, and here's some notes: - Simple Delay Line is awkward because after a delay is set, it can't reset, it only adds. So, there's no way t...

Re: Options to add latency in order to sync with video better?
Of course that OBS approach seems like it should work, but OBS doesn't send audio *output* in any way I can use! If OBS supported Jack and had a jack output, everything could route through OBS fine. But instead, it only sends audio output when it streams to a specific streaming service like YouTube ...

Options to add latency in order to sync with video better?
I'm wanting to use a higher-quality camera as a webcam source in WebRTC like with Jitsi Meet. I'm having trouble with particular hardware that seems to end up with the video latency long enough to be out of sync with the audio. Since the web browsers only use Pulse, I can send audio by just choosing...

Re: Auld Lang Syne for Kite Guitar
Just to be clear: I'm saying that the 20th century compositions you describe are WEIRD in a way that will be forever weird, same with other microtonality. I'm saying that "unable to appreciate it" is not so fixed as you describe. I'm suggesting that conservative listeners *appreciate* well...

Re: Auld Lang Syne for Kite Guitar
Thanks for the reply and perspective. I assure you that this type of "out of tune" you are experiencing is simple familiarity. Like being in a place where cars drive on the left and you think "this is wrong!" If you listen again (a few more times perhaps), you'll hear that it doe...

Re: Auld Lang Syne for Kite Guitar
Thanks! The world of "microtonality" has a spectrum from weird-for-the-sake-of-weird to sounds-totally-normal-except-particulary-harmonious. There are those of us who sometimes want completely traditional music but noticed that you simply can't tune an A chord and a G chord by ear to both ...

Re: Auld Lang Syne for Kite Guitar
I didn't mention for some reason originally: the software I used in this was Guitarix, Ardour, and Kdenlive.
As stated in previous reply, Adagio for the purpose of hearing the tuning subtleties. It could be way slower even to really listen to how these chords are not the standard 12-edo ones.

Re: Auld Lang Syne for Kite Guitar
Auld Lang Syne isn't a Christmas song (and I happen to kinda hate Christmas songs), it's a **new years** song! But nevermind that  I chose to linger on the chords because you can't hear what's so special about the tuning if it just flies by. You can spend a LOT longer on some of these chords a...

Auld Lang Syne for Kite Guitar
Hi all, long time with no real output from me. That's changing. Here's the first taste https://youtu.be/sZGZmgGkYzI The Kite Guitar is itself an amazing innovation, the solution to thousands of years of dilemmas around how to get practical harmonic tuning. And because several of us are GNU/Linux, Fr...

Pulse out and in via Jack by default?
Since updating to KDE Neon (Ubuntu) 20.04, Pulse audio doesn't start with Jack output selected. I see all these output and input options, one of each is the Jack bridge. But there's no choice to set the default to Jack. Anyone know how I can do that and not have to choose that every time I reboot?

Re: mismatch between JACK and Pulse sample rate
Either switch JACK to match the hardware sample rate or the hardware to match JACK's. If you have more than one sound device you can also dedicate JACK to the one you use for production work and leave the other for games, Youtube, etc. and avoid the interference. Well, in this case, I switched the ...

mismatch between JACK and Pulse sample rate
Until recently, I had an issue where the "switch master" function in JACK (to change the hardware setup, such as sample rate or device) would lose the connection to Pulseaudio bridge. I had to stop and restart the bridge (not pulse itself, just the bridge) to get the JACK connections reest...
