Re: New Music: Mountain Foothills Hotel (v.1)

Thanks for listening! OST stands for "original sound track"; there's a pretty big community of fans/artists on Bandcamp and the internet in general for this type of music. It's not all synth-based too, so it's pretty diverse. Definitely worth checking out!

Re: What kind of musician am I?

Eh, you're being too hard on yourself! In my eyes, to be a musician is to use any means to get an idea across. I've dabbled in jazz, folk, pure synth-based OST type stuff, and I don't plan on "sticking" to one particular style. Don't feel as though you must limit yourself to one idiom over...

New Music: Mountain Foothills Hotel (v.1)

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served on this gray November day in the Northeast US. I've finally gotten around to uploading a small summer project that I had a lot of fun making. All of the composition was done in LMMS (which is really starting to grow on me btw), with EQ, effects, and the fina...

Re: Are you addicted to a genre of music?

I have "phases" where I'm into a particular type of music pretty intensely. Like for a little while now (since the beginning of the summer) I've really been into synthwave pretty heavily (OST's especially). It depends on what catches my ear and what state of mind I'm in when I hear it. It ...

Re: Storing projects on Google drive...concerns?

@milo I did see that, yes. Haven't looked to deeply into it at the moment, but it does raise some concerns on the surface. Thanks for the extra info! @folderol yeah I don't currently encrypt anything that I store on my Drive, so that's another thing I should consider. For me it's always just been ab...

Re: Storing projects on Google drive...concerns?

I think this particular concern is probably overboard. Imagine the optics of a lawsuit brought against Google for commandeering intellectual property from their users. It would be terrible PR for them if you could prove your case. Users would flee them like rats off of a sinking ship, which is what...

Storing projects on Google drive...concerns?

Hey Linux musician community, Not sure if this topic fits in this category but if not feel free to move! Anyways, I've been thinking about this as of late. Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I'd like to hear your opinions on this. I keep copies of pretty much all of my completed and in progress projects...

Darjeeling by Barrie: https://barrie.bandcamp.com/album/happy-to-be-here.

Just stumbled on this via my Bandcamp feed - such a nice, breezy vibe to them. Puts me into a summer-y mindset.

Re: Love Letters During Winter

Thanks! I think I had the most fun writing that one . I intentionally made these tracks sort of sparse, but I agree that a little more synth can go a long way in any situation. I appreciate the feedback!!

Re: Love Letters During Winter

Thanks! I told myself if nothing else sounded good I should at least aim for the sax parts to be semi decent! For the piano, it's actually the midi instrument MDE Piano (not to be confused with MDA ePiano  ). I tweaked some of the params on one of the presets that I liked best and added reverb ...

Love Letters During Winter

Hi all, This is the first time I've mustered the courage to release a project of mine to the public at large  . This is an EP project that I started working on last winter (2017). It's a bunch of songs that started out as poems I had swimming around in my head - they focus on little scenes shar...

Not really a song per se, but an album..coming back to some Sonic Youth's Bad Moon Rising after a hiatus of a couple of years. Ferocious stuff on that record 8)

Re: Best synths?

I've been partial to Zyn for a few years; it's so deep....only recently have I been experimenting with Helm and I'm liking it so far. I have a project brewing and I hope to get plenty more familiar with them in the upcoming months..

Re: Need a new Linux-compatible audio Interface

+1 for the Komplete Audio 6. Just bought one in the spring of this year and it's been working beautifully for me. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a smaller sized interface. :D :D
