Re: Linux Audio Workstation Build

Jumping in to say I'm enjoying this thread. I haven't done a build in 15 years or so but now I have the itch...

Re: KX studio, LInux Mint, or Ubuntu Studio? Music Creation enviornment

Distro doesn't seem to be a big deal any more. Pick something that floats your boat in general, and then configure it. I rarely last an entire year on a distro, and I usually favor Xfce on whatever I use. On a whim I tried out Mint last April and have grown to really enjoy it. The current version of...

VOTE (Hope You've Given Up)

I've been away from the LMF for awhile but I wanted to share this song today since those of us in the US have an election happening. Hope You've Given Up I wrote it over four years ago before the current president was nominated, but I think it makes a little more sense with the passage of time. The ...

Re: Linux Musicians Playlist

Great idea! I'd offer up this tune of mine for Spotify playlist inclusion: Everton. Not all open source but 100% Linux native tools.

I've gotten take down notices/songs deleted from Soundcloud twice for posting my own work, with no recourse. So no tunes there anymore.

Re: Rated Blue "JOY" Album Released!

I've been away from here for a bit but I've streamed JOY repeatedly, and I love it more each listen. It's a special thing when enjoyment of the music as a listener transcends the Linux aspect and it's just plain good music . The grooves are excellent (according to the way my head is involuntarily bo...

Re: Viable soon?

Former Mac user here. Politics and licenses notwithstanding, I would never recommend someone switch to Linux for audio unless they actually like and enjoy the challenges that come along with it. The main challenge of switching is accepting the likelihood of "you can't take it with you" (wh...

Re: Pity Party

Funny, fun, and really good music. You both have excellent harmony/compositional skills, and the recording is full of charm. If Brian Wilson was in They Might Be Giants perhaps?

The pictures of Tom on the couch totally cracked me up BTW.

Re: Staticly linked arpeggiator plugin?

Venomode has a Linux-native arpeggiator called Phrasebox. It's remarkably powerful and the demo works perfectly in Mixbus.

It's not free though. I'm waiting for a sale to come around on this one...

Re: Rated Blue - "Chances Are"

Great to hear your original stuff. I enjoy everything you share but this is a whole new level. The arrangement and the playing are superb. The builds, the way the strings come in, and those sweet backing vocals... it's a worthy late 70s-style AM top 40 rock radio tune. Right up my alley. I loved it ...

Re: "Reducer" - A new Bandshed Records Release

This is impressive! Everything is so tasteful. The mix on all the songs is just perfect, and the collection really blends together. He has a skill for providing a crazy level of detail and somehow making it sound spare, I envy that. Kudos to Conner. I think I have to officially quit making drummer j...

Re: WUHAN

WUHAN is really excellent work. It develops in an engaging way and it sounds great. I think every piece you share here is an improvement over the last. (For example, how many people, even music lovers, actually like listening to free jazz? Very few.) :D God bless you for the bravery to say this.. :l...

That's some mighty tension ~2:53.

VCV is something I've wanted to dig into for... a long time. It always looks a little intimidating, but thanks for the reminder to try it out.
