Re: Help finding the right software

In general you could load a sampler, say samplv1, into Carla and put a midi processing plugin in front of it. I wanted to recommend the Midifilter plugins. But I can't find one that converts a program change to a note on while there is one that converts Controller Data (CC) to note on. At least the ...

Re: FocusRite Scarlet Solo

The Solo runs fine on my Xubuntu. When I do only play music I can use jack with a buffer size of 32 and 3 buffers without xruns, that gives a very low latency of 3*0.7 ms. With Qtractor and plugins I have to increase the buffer size of course. Important hints: - You need a lowlatency or realtime ker...

Re: Effect plugin to change pitch

I'm looking for an effect plugin that will change the pitch of the input sound by some ratio without speeding or slowing the sound. For example, I want to try recording an acoustic instrument and then try making the plugin tune it up an octave or down an octave, or maybe transpose it into an arbitr...

Re: jackd's dither parm – why?

I have no idea when dithering would make sense since jackd configures the audio adapter to use the configured sampling frequency. This isn't about sample rate, it's used to run JACK in 16 bit mode when an ADC/DAC doesn't support 16 bit. You should use that when exporting audio to 16 bit 44100 Hz fr...

Re: pulseaudio can't play sound when jack is on with jack-pulseaudio-bridge is enabled by cadence

I have a static setup where I start jackd and then pulseaudio with jack-sink (all via shell script when logging in). So pulseaudio outputs via jackd and doesn't have to own the audio interface.

It looks as if pulseaudio isn't aware that it shall use jack-sink for output.

jackd's dither parm – why?

jackd can be configured with dithering, e.g. when using the ALSA backend.

I have no idea when dithering would make sense since jackd configures the audio adapter to use the configured sampling frequency.

Any ideas?

You use a USB hub to lower the noise? That sounds strange to me. Do you mean noise coming from ground loops?

Re: White Noise when restarting Jack

Never experienced that but I don't use Cadence. When I get noises in jackd then they are made by (crashing) programs like Qtractor, mostly when doing something with plugins.

In your case maybe Pulseaudio or Pulseaudio-clients make the noise when jackd get restarted.

Re: Falsely Configured 24 bit Output(?)

Not all interfaces are happy when they have to switch their clock rate. One way to become a happy pro-audio Linux user: - Consider if you really need more than 48000. See https://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/neil-young.html - Configure jackd to the highest quality you want. Many interfaces work be...

Re: [ANN] Vee One Suite 0.9.3 - An Autumn'18 Release

Great. I had some strange effects with drumkv1 in Qtractor playing 44.1 kHz-samples on a 48 kHz-jackd. After loading the song I had to open the drumkv1-GUI once to get the correct pitch of the sample.

With the current version it's fixed.

Re: MOD Devices sponsors Linuxmusicians.com

I'd like to add my 2 cents:

At least in Germany (and probably in Europe) placing one single ad on a website turns it legally into a commercial site. That opens up a bunch of nasty, costly attacks based on a zillion of laws.

I'd prefer a yearly "please donate"-thread.

Re: A good jack-compatible audio player who stays connected to the outputs I want?

Hello, I need to play a playlist of audio files to the outputs 3-4 of my soundcard. I have tried with both VLC and Clementine, who have JACK support, but every time a song finish and they begin playing the next song, they automatically reconnect to outputs 1-2. Is there any player that behave prope...
