LV2 support for Surge XT has ended with v1.3. The option to build as LV2 or VST2 will remain. Moving forward the plugin format the Surge Synth Team is leaning towards is CLAP.

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...
I might try this (shutting down Pulse while using Jack). I've noticed on other threads people getting lower latencies by setting frames/period lower than I'm able to without crazy X-runs. It's a fast computer with lots of RAM, so maybe Pulse is the problem. I think it's worthwhile trying. My experi...

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...
When I was using JACK I also had KXStudio audio settings installed and was using Cadence as the JACK driver. I prefer Qjackctl's Connect window better than Catia because Catia is all over the map. In this case I would set the Audio Card in Qjackctl to Dummy instead of ALSA so it would not try to com...

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...
This is simply not true. I'm sure Pipewire is magnificent, but claiming that using Pulse and Jack simultaneously is a such hassle as you're describing it, is disingenuous. The following steps need only be done once, and then everything (jack apps and pulseaudio apps) should simply work forever afte...

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...
I will reiterate that I have been using Pipewire (from the github PPA available here ) on a personal computer that has Mint 20.3 Cinnamon and a low latency kernel for over a year now. I've installed audio apps for testing purposes and everything works well. I've been using Linux for over 20 years. I...

Re: Why does starting JACK as systemd also load Pulseaudio?
JACK does not load Pulseaudio. Pulseaudio is always running. The thing to do is to mask it. you can mask Pulseaudio by doing the following systemctl --user mask pulseaudio.socket systemctl --user mask pulseaudio.service if you need or want to mask Pipewire systemctl --user mask pipewire.service syst...

Re: Traction F-em plugin window empty
I have had issues with F'em, Collective and Biotek VST3's where they became memory hogs causing the system to ramp up to max. I can also remember in the past where these three synths were not recognized by any hosts. In which case I just used the VST2. If not mistaken, things are OK now on Debian 12...

Re: [Solved] Pipewire interfering with JACK
With JACK I had to close FF, enable the Pulse-Jack Bridge, then open FF Seems like a hassle to stop/start it. I just leave the pulseaudio-jack sink active all the time. that will produce xruns when recording in real time, this is one reason why by default on a Linux Audio Production computer it's b...

Re: [Solved] Pipewire interfering with JACK
Without PulseAudio how are you going to listen to Yt video's in your internetbrowser? Most require PA for audio AFAIK. With Pipewire YouTube videos play through Firefox.... because PW is both JACK and Pulseaudio at the same time With JACK I had to close FF, enable the Pulse-Jack Bridge, then open F...
