Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.

If you want to import both MIDI files into one Rosegarden file you can use the merge function. Many thanks, that helped a lot. Unfortunately, I am disappointed to find that there is no concert flute synth plug-in, but I did find a very cool electric bass plug-in. Any ideas about how to get/install ...

Re: Minimal Ubuntu Studio 17.04 style install.

I have got a system installed based on WattOS Microwatt r10 (Ubuntu 16.04), running bspwm (latest git version) as the window manager. LMMS, QjackCtl, Rosegarden, low latency kernel, everything starts fine. Will first get to really test the system when I get the windows in LMMS and Rosegarden to beha...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.

Reaper looks interesting at first blush, but to start with I don't see any .mid file import/export possibilities, but maybe that is just because the fonts used are so small that I can hardly read anything. The other concern is of course what such a product would cost when ready for prime time. At le...

Re: Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.

Thanks for the quick reply. I decided to move to Rosegarden because I found myself sometimes correcting in notation and other times in the piano roll and importing and exporting corrections from the one to the other, which can be irritating particularly as MuseScore basically imports .mid files as p...

Migrating from Musescore & LMMS to Rosegarden - confused.

The subject basically says it all. I am trying to migrate from Musescore 2 and LMMS to Rosegarden, which is causing some confusion. Part of this has to understanding how Rosegarden works, and partially in reference to a project that I am trying to migrate to Rosegarden. I will start with the second ...

Re: Minimal Ubuntu Studio 17.04 style install.

I have just installed it on my t60 with Pentium processor (i386) and got the impression it perform better if there was a lighter system on it.

Yamaha DTX400K digital drum kit with LMMS?

My drum teacher has recommended that I purchase a digital drum kit so that I can practice. I have been looking at the Yamaha DTX400K digital drum kit, which looks like a good investment. The question is whether I can use it with LMMS? Does anyone have one, or are there any suggestions as to how I ca...

Re: Ubu-Mate/Ubu-Studio 16.04, KXStudio hybrid?

I'm using kxstudio repos with Linux Mint (Cinammone for now), this is the same ubuntu distro, the only difference is in preinstalled packages. What I am concerned about is Ubuntu Studio packages and dependencies conflicting with KXStudio packages and dependencies. For example 2 X LMMS, 2 X Ardour, ...

I am running Ubuntu Mate 16.04 desktop on a nummer of x86_64 and i386 computers with Ubuntu Studio audio and audio plug-in groups installed and was wondering if I could safely add the KXStudio repo to my system. Re: Newbie wants to start using midi keyboard.

Thanks. I had seen it before, but seeing it again, now that I have the Launchkey in front of me helped sort out a few things. There are a few things that I still don't understand. I would like to use a basic "test" scenario: 1) Create a basic project called "test". 2) Remove ever...

Re: Newbie wants to start using midi keyboard.

OK, I received my Novation Launchkey 49 today and I am trying to figure out how to get it set up in LMMS. LMMS tries to auto detect, and it works to a certain extent. The master volume is detected, but master pitch isn't. I can't seem to get any sound from LMMS to my computer (which has functioning ...

Re: Newbie wants to start using midi keyboard.

OK, so I found the path to the soundfont installed with the Ubuntu Studio bits /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2 and I set that as the default soundfont file in LMMS. I have dragged the SF2 player to a new project, and I can see that the blinking light and the keys are moving in LMMS. However, th...
