Re: Focusrite 18i8 1st gen, no sound.
Just to be sure: Did you check volumes or if channels are muted in alsamixer?

Re: recording with audio out port?
Are you sure it's just out? Some laptops have a port, similar to ones in cell phones, that has a stereo out and a mono in (mic). Maybe you can take a look at alsamixer to see if there are any inputs. (If not, I don't know how to help, except maybe suggesting you buy a USB audio interface, which migh...

Re: Airwindows VST's
I would say use Airwindows Console Channel on all tracks + Airwindows Console Buss in all Busses and 2bus + Airwindows FromTape on all tracks + Airwindows ToTape on all Busses and 2bus. It's basically that. But Mixbus also has EQs, and might sound quite different overall. But i'm sure Ardour + Airw...

Re: Airwindows VST's
Well, Ardour+Airwindows is for sure a great combination! It can almost be called the new Mixbus (kind of!) In the same spirit of ssj71, who said: p.s. there are so many I'm really interested to read everyone's thoughts so I don't have to try to audition them all. :) Would you mind sharing which one...

Re: Clarinet sound test
I cannot offer any technical comment, but I like how it sounds (and the music itself)!
The strings remind me of a Melltotron a bit at times (and places), which might not be what you were going for, but I quite like it.

Re: My Third Production
Sorry for the delay in replying... (Work has been very busy...) It is DrumGizmo, with the CrocellKit. That's strange… Maybe it's the source then? How many velocity levels does it have? My main kits for DrumGizmo are MuldjordKit and Aasimonster. They are very well sampled and very flexible in means o...

Re: My Third Production
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment! Liked the song itself really much (like I was teleported back to 80s, which was even before I was born), but the mix could be much better. Agreed. :-) First of all, synth strings are masking everything else the mix has, which is plainly wrong. Try ba...

Re: best guitar effect program
I really can't help, as I have trouble dialing a good tone with either.
I wish someone would make good video tutorials for both. The one's I've seen seem older and do not go in much detail...

Re: Pricing alert re: OvertoneDSP
I was just suggesting that sometimes having the cheapest price is equated by customers as having the lowest quality. Especially when they were as drastically low as Overtone's. That's too true, and a very good point... I've heard way too many times that if Linux were any good it would not be free.

Re: Pricing alert re: OvertoneDSP
Thanks for the heads up. I, myself, have already bought them, and can recommend them. But I am not sure I agree with I think he's been doing himself a disservice selling them at far below their real value. Can one say that of Ardour, Calf Plugins, or Linux itself (among many, many others)? Now, of c...

Re: Weird "beeps" in mixes
This 'beep' is the result of your imperfect guitar technic. You've just played 4th note together with the main note. It's often problem of guitaritsts when they're playing notes using finger's flat surface instead of fingertip. Although I am not sure that is exactly the problem, I agree 100% it's m...

Re: Weird "beeps" in mixes
Ow ok, the guitar itself!? I thought it would be an external beep and was concentrating on that. A false string between? I don't hear it as annoying or irritating as it is hardly/not to be heard. I would leave it in. It will disappear within the rest of the sounds and it's what they call "maki...

Re: Ultralight AVB
Looks quite interesting! It's out of my price range for the near future, but it's good to know it works on Linux!
And for the sake of those searching for this interface, it is MOTU's UltraLite AVB. (Not UltraLight. Again, not being picky, simply trying to help those who might search for it.)
