Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
Here is a (nice) example for a Bass-like tone with guitarix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqx3SC5nD4s This isn't even a bit close to real bass tone. That guy didn't even use a pitch shifter. When I say "bass", I mean bass, not guitar. When I say "bass tone"... Guess what I mea...

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
What made you change? Okay, since the thread holds on to this direction now, I'll say something too. I swicthed to Linux because of JACK and Ardour. They are incredibly impressive. The main reason was that one can easily get low latencies with JACK on any soundcard supported by ALSA. So I used to p...

Why Tango Studio? For me, KXStudio is the best since providing awesome stuff like Carla and Claudia.morneco wrote:Tango Studio 10.04

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
Do you really need "$50000" studio quality for every "two riffs and practice"? Yes, I definitely need studio quality because "two riffs" isn't my only musical activity. Curently I play in two bands, and there can be even more. All of them, late or soon, will release so...

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
Isn't enough for what? For my needs. Those drumkits are good, but they still lack tambourines, cowbells, splash cymbals and other cool stuff. Using other samples isn't a solution since it's not that easy to make different recordings sound the same. Works for me This didn't make Ardour stable enough...

Re: POD HD300 and Jack
Option 1. The Input Device and Output Device scroll down list in the setup window are only usable if I select Duplex in the Audio scroll down list. And, in any case, they only list the audio cards of my PC, not the speakers. I guess, this is not the right way then. However I have some questions: wh...

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread
First of all, for me the main problem is that Ardour 3 isn't really stable. It crashes all the time when doing basic operations, especially when editing or saving MIDI. The second problem is absence of samplers which support common formats other than GIG/SF2/SFZ. The third big problem is some plugin...

Re: Microphone Voice Issues
i played around with the equalizer and lowered all the midtones , someone sugested i should do that That guy was wrong. Formants and power frequency are always in middle range, so you should even raise the middles sometimes. Also, don't forget to remove resonances since thay cause most of spectral ...

Re: Reggae Song 'Of Course'
Left the settings as they come (DEFAULT). So, that's just your mic. I highly suggest you to save a couple of bucks in order to buy a really good microphone. The one you use sounds a little bit better than $1 mics for Skype do. If all you record live is vocals, you need a condenser mic like I have. ...

but need to replicate the music apps/capability I have in Windows under Linux. There's a plenty of alternatives for Windows software in the world of Linux. If you're not satisfied with native Linux application, there's Reaper which is officially (!) supported under Wine. Also, I've heard that Reape...

Re: I'm new to linux/digital music
Hello, Andrew. If you work with hardware, then using Linux in your workflow is just right. Buy a good multichannel sound interface, connect it and go. Routing in JACK is very simple yet powerful, and there are some good plugins present. Moving to software processing (if you plan to do it) is kinda d...

That sounds way better than the first version. By the way, did you use a lowpass/hipass or bandpass filter on vocals?Samüel wrote:New revised version: http://youtu.be/m268kurHwac

Re: Reggae Song 'Of Course'
put a couple of sheets in the windows It's better to use blankets and pillows. They absorb the sound well while hard materials reflects it. The more your room absorbs, the better resulting sound becomes. If you find out that the sound with cloth stuff is flat and dull, don't worry: saturators, exci...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla
They will produce more xruns if you drop your buffer lower than 1024, but the fact that they're not using a generic kernel should have little to do with the errors being experienced. Okay, if you still want to run generic kernel, then you should run JACK with realtime priority at least. It's possib...
