hello falkTX, nice stuff you're doing here
I tried Carla from git. Compiled and started fine but it only detected my LADSPA plugins (no VSTs, no LV2s, no DSSIs). Isn't it strange ?

Re: alsa_in, alsa_out
hi there, alsa_in/out are not meant to be used with the sound device that jackd is using, they are meant to add other devices into the jack graph of the main jack session. Say you start jackd on device1 but you happen to have other devices as well, then you can use alsa_in to bring capture ports of ...

Re: Kernel 2.6.36 - A true musicians Kernel ?
hello, I was too vague in my earlier statement. The 2.6.39-1-686-pae kernel is a debian kernel compiled _without_ the CONFIG_PREEMPT=y option (but still with "threaded irqs"). If you need a debian kernel compiled with this option, you can get it from the liquorix repos. But I don't think i...

I see ... it just sounds to me that at 1:19 mn you were in the middle of some comment that has been suddenly cut: " ... When you click on all applications, things start to look a little more familiar: the subgroups now are popping up | CUT " ... but I follow you, you actually made some rou...

Ad: Compressors for sale
Hi all, Before the birth of my second one due in August (a little girl :) ), I am going through a "cleaning" process and my home studio has accumulated a few things that I would like to get rid of sooner than later. So before I put things on ebay, maybe one of you guys is interested in acq...

Re: "best" way to feed dry elec-guitar into pc...
there are mainly 3 reasons why you'd want a DI box, so see if you fit in here: - impedance matching (the DI will convert the high imp input to low imp output) - balanced output at mic level (most of the time) - breaking of ground loop (the "humming" noise you can hear when connecting your ...

Re: Just me or is Natty the biggest LinuxAudio Regression ever?
a couple of remarks: Are you talking about Linux as in "Desktop Linux" ? or as in "Kernel" ? or maybe as in "distro" ? Linux is first a kernel with a full "user ecosystem" that wrapped around it. Being mainly composed of open-source and free software, I don't ...

Re: Radio tray
I thought I would drop a post before I forget: there is volume control, actually there is a couple of handy mouse controls:
- click on scroll wheel: toggles on / off the stream
- scroll wheel up and down: increase / decrease volume (but clearly not the master nor PCM volumes, strangely enough)

Re: xruns and Macs
@funkmuscle: could be your Mac friend is using a large buffer size ? That would not be uncommon in a studio environment, where you want to make sure you have no dropouts during recording, all the "realtime" stuff being h/w FX and h/w monitoring. In my modest home studio, I rarely use small...

Re: Sequencer >> euclidean
Hey, I quickly gave it a try yesterday (and yes, you need snd-virmidi). I use this kernel on my debian sid box: linux-image-2.6.39-1-686-pae and snd-virmidi was there OOB. The app works fine and is quite interesting. The only drawback I could see was that the MIDI device menu item window is way too ...

Hola Pablo,
Thanks for the tip, works great
A simple volume control would be nice though (like a mouse-wheel scroll over the icon).

there's one in the debian repos (linux-image-2.6.39-1-686-pae) which i tested a bit yesterday and no problem so far. Seems rock solid

Re: Big noise from Jack when connecting in and out
Hello, I haven't yet looked into your h/w specs but to clear any confusion: h/w monitoring (or direct monitoring, if I understand you correctly) is not involving the PC at all, the card has a direct internal link between input and output for monitoring purpose (it is probably more complex because of...
