Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing

Well, I do have a new beta, network is fixed and most of the issues, but already a bit old and a few details need to be sorted out http://download.linuxaudio.org/kxstudio/KXStudio_18.04b1.iso it is just not in a state where I feel comfortable sharing it too much... note: this iso does not include wi...

Re: Cadence: issues with system audio

afaik Poettering is not doing pulseaudio anymore since quite some time now. I find pulseaudio to be quite the great thing for desktop users. if we are talking about 2010, then yes I would say the same thing about linux audio - whoever was making music with it by then, likely was just using it as a t...

Re: I feel like giving up with audio as a whole

ladish has been dead since a few years, so I expect things to slowly not work there anymore.
It is being removed from archlinux, and soon enough from Debian too.

might be that you just need to try out new tools, seeing as the current ones dont work well.

Re: transition everything to Discourse

Personal experience here:
I have used discourse (as user on their a couple of forums), and I just dont like how it works. Using it feels quite subpar compared to what we have here.
The fact that it relies on javascript so much is also a PITA

Re: LOS midi editor crashes the app when it closes

ah, the bug is back somehow then...

There were some issues that had to be fixed, but oomidi-2012 works for me again.
See https://github.com/falkTX/oom/commits/master

Package is being built, you will be able to install "oomidi-2012" in a few hours.

Re: LOS midi editor crashes the app when it closes

Should be fixable sure, but I guess such issues should be in https://github.com/falkTX/los/issues.

I will try to get the oomidi-2012 built again.
Too bad they stopped development.

Re: Carla 2.0 beta7 is here!

It will be the same as SFZero.
I dont have a direct list, but when you load an SFZ file, you get a list of unsupported opcodes printed in the logs.

Re: [ANN] Open Source Music FM Synthesizer Challenge starts September 15th, 2018

sampling of the instruments is quite useful, it helps to reduce CPU usage (though I guess FM synths are not the most heavy things...) and it also allows for much easier beat-sequencing. one could create an hydrogen drumkit out of a FM synth, then work from there, instead of having to have a synth op...

Re: Latest Carla Bridge update crashing WINE

I updated the mingw compiler in hopes to get the bridges working better...
errr, maybe it still does not work properly yet (or worse, not at all now, errrr)

But lets have the discussion on the bug tracker please, at https://github.com/falkTX/Carla/issues/715

Re: Query about the LV2 plugin format

I find it quite good that LV2 devs are going into this direction (of not allowing every single toolkit out there to be an UI) It is quite the problem, and finally now perhaps being tackled. Note that if you ever do any sort of plugin version outside of LV2 (and DSSI), you always need to have your ow...

Re: KVR Developer Challenge 2018

Sad that none of them seem to release for linux. Only 1 of them are opensource this time it seems, it is made with IPlug so it won't work on Linux. :( Surprisingly, a developer that used to release his plugins as opensource (lkjb) now has decided against it - even though it means having juce splash ...

Re: Query about the LV2 plugin format

The LV2 author has been researching json-ld for possibly use in LV2. Although it seems simple at first glance, the implementation is not. Turtle is better than XML for sure. JSON is too simple of a format to allow more advanced things used in LV2. Turtle is not something I like either, but after som...
