Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018

With a Debian stable I never had problems with "apt autoremove". Ok. I had used autoremove on KX Studio several times without a problem. It did exactly as you described, listing what it was going to remove, then one time when I answered 'y' a huge list of software started rolling up the s...

Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018

As everything was set up, I've run "sudo apt autoremove" to clean up the system and... Guess what?!? Ubuntu Studio removes also Thunar, xfwm4, etc and a lot of fundamental packages so that after reboot, the system was almost dead. Yes, there's a bug. Never use that command. You could have...

I don't think you want jackd and jackd2 at the same time.

Have you installed kxstudio-default-settings ?

You can install KX meta packages : https://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Documen ... a-Packages

Re: Temporal Anomalies

It happened again in this thread.

Ok, I figured it out. It's because both these threads involved new users, and their posts had to be approved.

Re: KXStudio --> to install or not to install? --> Better Options

Unless something has changed recently you have to compile all the packages and add them individually and you are still lacking in some places (such as if you use the official ardour package from ardour some plugins will not show their gui, again unless this has changed recently). Just to clear this...

I took lilith to be asking if KX Studio was going to stop being supported. AFAIK KX Studio repos and software will continue to be supported.

And for my part, I mean that it's Ubuntu 14.04 LTS that will stop being supported, which affects the ISO only.

...and that I don't have any problems installing newer software (which also runs with Ubuntu 14.04.). Not sure what you mean by that. But this is when using the ISO only or am I wrong? You're right. It's Ubuntu 14.04 LTS that will stop being supported. That's the base of the ISO. It may be worth cl...

Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018

Theoretically it would be possible to calculate what a given system is capable of. There are two relevant numbers : the number of calcuations per second that the processor can do, and the number of calculations per second that the processor is being asked to do by the audio software. So any system, ...

Temporal Anomalies

I've found some unusual behaviour in this forum software. I posted in this thread, and didn't see Strykar's reply until today.

Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018

I found that the more I messed with AVLinux the worse it got. It's called AV Linux. It doesn't have Rosegarden, a MIDI sequencer, but does have two video editors, for example. It may be worth considering the concept of an 'appliance'. AVL has been described as an appliance elsewhere. You install it,...
