Re: "Calm_Down" by Protozone [electro-industrial-dnb]
Thanks for listening. I sincerely appreciate it. I changed up some of the sounds recently by adding some more stuff. Whether or not it sounds better or worse is slightly a toss up. But I tried to make it deeper and fuller and more exciting. It might be a little bit too dense, but I'm not sure how mu...

"Calm_Down" by Protozone [electro-industrial-dnb]
https://hearthis.at/protozone/calmdown/ "Calm_Down" is the name of the tune. I don't normally do a lot of Drum n Bass; this is intentionally supposed to be more electro-industrialish. But I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. I had a rough time mixing this because I was dealing with about 26 st...

Re: 24/192 Music Downloads ...and why they make no sense
But not all WAV files are RIFF Wav's either. Are they? The header is RIFF one, I don't expect to find anything else. By the way, do you work with multichannel WAV's at all? I don't yet, but I used work with multichannel AIFF files a little bit. What's so special about them? I didn't claim there was...

QasMixer to help solve levels issues.
if you install qasmixer, run it, press F6 to see the full mixer. click on HW: Card in the box on the upper right. If nothing pops into view click on those other items there. When you see a screen with a bunch of faders, click on the icon of a microphone on the lower right. After that, you should see...

Re: Conky (or system monitors)?
I don't anything about conky in particular. I think I totally removed it from my MX system. Some DAW sites claim that compositing should be disabled. I tried it both ways on Ubuntu Studio, Xubuntu, and some other Linuxes. Ultimately, I don't think it makes much difference anymore for the types of co...

Re: USB Audio device Class 2.0 compatible soundcards?
You might get specific specification info from the Linux kernel makers themselves. Just yesterday I downloaded the most recent kernel. I didn't install it, but I was able to browse it's documentation and even the programming "code" files themselves. There are some spots where it specifical...

I know i will sound ignorant asking this, but what exactly is Conky?
If it's a compositor, can I safely delete it?

Re: Linux DAW Extra Help website starting up
Is an integration time of 5 s not much too long. Don ´t you just average short clippings with such a long window? Why do you go the route via Pulse Audio btw.? You might be right about that. I remember when I first discovered lowering the CPU load by changing the mtering of Reaper, the fewer animat...

Re: 24/192 Music Downloads ...and why they make no sense
Also, I remember when foobar2000 started including adding metadata to .WAVs. It seemed really odd at first, but thankfully they implemented it in a way that doesn't choke most old and new editors. I'm thankful that there's a function to strip the metadata back out. You can put a lot of stuff beside...

Re: Linux DAW Extra Help website starting up
OK, back to some random tips. Posting them here helps me to get an idea of how well I am or am not working yet. But I will try to not have so much text other than the basic explanation of each .PNG tip image. Eventually, every image will have the text written within it, so there won't *be* any text ...

WHY I am trying to do this very gradually...
MY MOTIVATION:  I know that if somebody quits their Linux hobby or passes away or gets arrested or whatnot a lot of good info can just disappear. Sometimes good websites get shut down or the servers are bought and sold and purged. Since some Linux DAW tips can't be found on more than just a f...

Re: Patroneo pattern sequencer
Interesting synopsis. I will try to learn more about your Patroneo. I am not against conventional loop style music tools, they have clear disadvantages (both amateur and semipro culture talk seriously about "loopitis") but also some clear advantages by virtue of when they are most modular....

Re: Hacked: Github service from Gentoo
@Tux, Yeah, i agree with you; it's not that bad as people might assume. But it still makes me nervous because it implies attempts to mess with Gentoo. I know hackers good and bad try to tinker or destroy just about anything n everything, but it's still noteworthy for certain fields of use/concern. S...
