Re: MUSIC DISTROS

Suggest checking out recent release of Ubuntu Studio 18.10 It has custom package Ubuntu Studio Controls that appears to handle a lot of JACK and other system configuration I wouldn't normally consider an Ubuntu short term (9 month release) worth installing but Ubuntu Studio is good starting point fo...

Re: Why Iso and not as a Software

Do you mean why you have to install the KX repository manually instead of installing the desired packages directly from your distribution's package manager? This - just by using your package manager of your distribution - would be more convenient than adding the KX repository afterwards. Manjaro co...

Re: pulseaudio can't play sound when jack is on with jack-pulseaudio-bridge is enabled by cadence

no need to stop and start Pulseaudio to start JACK Pulseaudio module jackdbus-detect can sometimes be awkward setting up on some distributions but it will take care of automating JACK start and loading Pulseaudio Sink / Source Even without jackdbus, single command in QjackCtl "execute script on...

Re: Question Using pulseaudio-module-jack with QJackCtl

pactl command will only load Pulseaudio Sink when JACK is started

Stop JACK and both sinks are unloaded

Restart JACK and load Pulseaudio Sink with pactl command

Re: jackd with cadence and multiple configurations

I believe Cadence only has one settings profile for hardware

QjackCtl can save multiple profiles

There is also this to change JACK profile
https://github.com/SpotlightKid/jack-select
but think you need QjackCtl to create the profiles for it to use

Re: pulseaudio can't play sound when jack is on with jack-pulseaudio-bridge is enabled by cadence

I can't play youtube in firefox, the youtube player pauses and shows something like "can't play on device". Likely youtube playback in Pulseaudio is trying to use hardware device now in use by JACK youtube audio stream needs to be redirected to JACK Sink in Pulseaudio pavucontrol has drop...

Re: Advice on Stereo to Mono

do not connect stereo channels without resistors, they are necessary to protect stereo outputs from signal source

This is close to what you need, just leave out 4th resistor for 2nd mono output

Re: Jack Sink and web browsers

I sometimes want ALSA connection from Pulseaudio when not needing JACK

But if JACK is always running, I would disable 2 Pulseaudio modules:
  • module-udev-detect
  • module-detect
Remove those from ~./.config/pulse/default.pa and No ALSA cards

Re: Jack Sink and web browsers

Find correct names for Pulseaudio sinks: pactl list short sinks | cut -f2 Pulseaudio JACK sink default name is usually 'jack_out', so command is usually: pacmd set-default-sink jack_out Command will only work if JACK sink is loaded Could you try opening pavucontrol and on configuration tab ,set ever...

Re: Jack Sink and web browsers

I use Jack all the time. But suddenly, maybe a week ago, my Jack sink stopped being the default option for web browsers. Did you get an update for Pulseaudio about that time? If so, suggest delete Pulseaudio cookie rm ~/.config/pulse/cookie Restart PC to get new cookie created I need to open pavuco...

Same as anywhere else - mid-side recording
easy to adjust stereo image in post-production

If i had the money - ambisonic microphone

but using pan pots for mixdown is usually enough

Re: Remove duplicate pulseaudio sink

I mostly use QjackCtl, but have Cadence too have seen duplicate sink/source connections happen in Debian/Ubuntu distributions, but only takes one check to avoid it First time starting Cadence check connections and see if Pulseaudio sink/source is already there It is usually triggered by Pulseaudio m...

Re: headphones always muted at restart

With headphones unmuted and everything else set correct in Alsamixer, use command:

Code: Select all

sudo alsactl store

ALSA settings are stored in file 'asound.state', location can vary depending on distribution

Re: Remove duplicate pulseaudio sink

Assuming Pulseaudio sink/sources are being loaded by 1. Cadence settings 2. Module configuration in Pulseaudio Simplest way is turn off Pulseaudio bridge in Cadence If you want to turn it off in Pulseaudio configuration: ⋅ copy etc/pulse/default.pa to ~/.config/pulse/default.pa (optional) ...
