Re: Make Carla more elastic with interface names

Solved for now! If anyone has the same problems, I first connect the MIDI cable to the Alsa MIDI Through (playback). Then, in Carla, I connect the Alsa MIDI Through (capture) to the instrument I need, and I save. So if I reopen the Carla project another time, it will reconnect the MIDI Through port ...

So, is any of these two standalone?
I would like it indeed to be seen by Carla, but it should be *already* up and running when Carla is started.

Is there a MIDI plugin that does absolutely nothing?

Hello. Is there a MIDI standalone plugin, or small program, that does absolutely nothing? One input channel, one output, and simply lets the signal pass through?
I would like the program to be seen (but not loaded) by Carla, so I guess LV2 would be best.

Thanks!

Re: File manager error in Ardour

Hey. Ardour 4.2 here. I've noticed that if I open an Ardour file by double click in its folder, if the folder name contains a space, Ardour drops whatever is after the space (and so it does not find anything), Do you encounter this while browsing for files to import in a session? If so have you che...

Re: How to check if an interface could work in Linux

Thanks to everyone for the answers. FYI, I am going for the Soundcraft for better sound, which is USB 2.0. The device has never been used on Linux as far as I have read online. But there is no mention whatsoever for drivers (for Windows and Mac) on the download page...so it is likely class compliant...

File manager error in Ardour

Hey. Ardour 4.2 here. I've noticed that if I open an Ardour file by double click in its folder, if the folder name contains a space, Ardour drops whatever is after the space (and so it does not find anything), like a very old file manager. I guess some quotes are missing somewhere in the code...can ...

How to check if an interface could work in Linux

Hello! I'm about to try a new mixer-interface (see this thread: http://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14033) and the shopkeeper lets me first try to see if it works with Linux, so that I don't buy something that I cannot use. But how do I check? It shouldn't just work as soon as I plug i...

if not then I don't really know..
No, I'm using the Kubuntu-based kxstudio 14.04. But...so are we moving to 5 already?

Re: Exported audio has random clicks on some players

Its definitely possible software normalizes the tracks on playback. It obnoxious when a song mixed loud plays right next to one mixed softly. So some players have an automatic gain compensation to try to make all songs sound equally loud. But that is pretty stupid if that very software cannot handl...

My KDE is acting funny - am I alone?

Hello. For some days, my desktop has been acting funny, KDE does not behave normally. Launchers are lazy, rendering fails, and things in general are slow as if there were something stuck somewhere. I'm not asking help, but am I the only one, or is it some update problem? In the former case, I guess ...

Re: Exported audio has random clicks on some players

Couple of things: Is SMplayer definitely using jack directly or is it using alsa bridged to jack? It uses Jack directly. Yeah I was thinking to of an ALSA issue. The other thing, definitely try taking the peak level down to -0.3db. No improvement :( I guess you might try to record the output of one...

I tried to normalize to -0.1 db. But it still did it. Should I try lower?

Re: Exported audio has random clicks on some players

What format are the exports? I've tried ogg, wav, mp3. Are you running jack during playback? Yes, I have no sound otherwise (KXStudio). I assume that the clicks are in different places each playback Actually, they seem to have the clicks always in the same places, or at least, regions. and the sour...
