Re: Brainstorming a new Linux distribution for Music Production and Game Dev
I hope we're not drifting off topic, but IMO linux audio would be best served by adding polish and refinement. Contributing to existing projects that are 90% of the way there and helping them develop it so that its easier to use, sounds good at every setting, looks better etc. That and some more pr...

Re: Jack ERROR: control open "hw:usb" (No such device)
So here is what I had to do: deleted database files in ~/.config/pulse (not sure if this was needed) exit KDE to a virtual console pulseaudio --kill jack_control dps device hw:USB jack_control dps capture hw:USB jack_control dps playback hw:USB then start KDE again and everything works. It was the l...

Re: Brainstorming a new Linux distribution for Music Production and Game Dev
In the next year or so, I'm going to be in a financial position to set up an office and hire a staff to work with me on my ideas. My thoughts are that some really good applications are needed much more than a new distro. I"m not saying there aren't already some great Linux audio apps, but my o...

[SOLVED] Jack ERROR: control open "hw:usb" (No such device)
I can't (yet) get the Scarlett Solo to work with Jack. I had Jack set up and working properly with my Native Instruments K6. In jack/config.xml I previosly used hw:k6,0 as the device specifier: <drivers> <driver name="alsa"> <option name="device">hw:k6,0</option> I changed audio ...

Thanks for chiming in. I bought a replacement KA6 and I am very happy with it.folderol wrote:A bit late to the party, but just want to say I've had my KA6 for about a year and it has worked flawlessly and completely hassle free, connected to desktops and laptops (and even an EeePC910)

Re: Is Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 a good choice?
Thank you. This has more I/O than other devices I looked at such as the Scarlette 2i2. They didn't have enough I/O but the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 has plenty for me. Our place got hit by lightening. Some computers were on UPS's with surge protection. Some computers even had surge protect...

Is Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 a good choice?
I have a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 that I have been using with KX Studio for a while. It was recently damaged by an electrical surge and no longer powers on. I need to quickly replace it. (Later I may try to have this one repaired, but there isn't time for that now.) Should I get the same ...

Audacious client name
When I save a ladish studio using Claudia, in the XML file Audacious client name has a PID suffix like this: <client name="audacious-jack_18096_000" uuid="xxxx-yyyy-zzzz"> In the example above, the PID is 18096. Is it possible to configure Audacious to not append the PID to the c...

Re: How to prevent self-connections by Audacious
Audacious seems to makes its own connections internally. I don't know how to prevent Audacious from doing what it is doing and I don't use Ladish. However, maybe you could try writing a script that disconnects the unwanted connections. In terminal, you could use the jack_lsp command to list all con...

How to prevent self-connections by Audacious
I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 and KXStudio. I have a Komplete Audio K6. I have saved a studio with Audacious having only 2 connections: out_0 to playback_1 and out_1 to playback_2. However, when I start Audacious, it self-connects to all 6 playback ports on the K6. It does this even though I also set my...

Re: MPlayer loses JACK connections on every track change
Does anyone know how to accomplish the same result for VLC? (SMPlayer is working great with JACK with the changes shown in my last post. Hope to accomplish the same with VLC now.)
