Re: Roland UA-55

I could playback audio and do everything except record with the inputs. It was working at 24bit 96khz, but the inputs didn't work. That's also true of 24-bit 44KHz? I don't remember, only because I never used it at 44khz. However, after what I think was the best kernel was released (the one that ha...

Kalbi Kimchi Pizza

Hopefully this new track release symbolizes the end of my musical slump!

Lots of percussion as usual, changes moods halfway through. It tells a story.

Re: Roland UA-55

j_e_f_f_g, the kernel module that was developed specifically for enabling the Roland UA55 on AV Linux was worked on for several months, then stopped. I sold my UA55 because it didn't fully work - I could playback audio and do everything except record with the inputs. It was working at 24bit 96khz, b...

MIDI Keyboard (with weighted keys)

I'm using AV Linux 6.0.1 (soon to be 6.0.2) and I'm trying to upgrade from a midi keyboard with "semi-weighted" keys to a keyboard with weighted keys, preferably with 49 keys. Does anyone know of a MIDI keyboard that functions on Linux with weighted keys? I'm having a hard time finding a M...

Re: Audacity 2.05

Nice! I want to install 2.0.5 so badly, but for some reason I get errors after "make" when installing this from source. This is what happens after "make"...actually just SOME of what happens, the error: make[1]: Entering directory `/SourceCode/audacity-src-2.0.5/src' g++ -c -I../...

Re: Spectrum Analyzers

An analyzer plugin that came out awhile before the Calf Analyzer is the Invada Meter which also shows the entire sound spectrum. It has less options, but it also seems to use less memory. Ardour3 will crash sometimes when I'm using the Calf Analyzer, but not so much when I'm using the Invada Meter. ...

Re: Animation

Here's an animation that I've been working on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap7BIU8xfIE I hope to do a series involving these characters (there's one more that hasn't made an appearance yet). I've planned it out for awhile, wrote several stories for a few episodes, etc. The actual Synfig/GIMP/Kden...

Re: Animation

Whoa troyvasanth! Good Morning Mumbai is amazing. I really enjoy the "moving-camera"...panoramic style shot at 1:10-1:44. And 2:46-3:04 too. The great variety of different shots to show the main character running to get somewhere at 4:50-5:38. The wide variety of different characters! What...

Re: Might release an album...

Oh neat, I noticed you're also making a cartoon with Synfig. I tried that too.. didn't get very far; it's a lot of work indeed. I've pretty much done the exact same thing (so far). Keeping myself motivated and focused on the animation has been a big challenge. I work on music without even thinking ...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 - success!

Awesome, I felt that should be the case but I haven't yet used an interface that didn't have MIDI ports, so I just had to ask to make sure. Thanks!

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

No I do not own any MIDI gear that connects to MIDI hardware inputs. Can I use the 2i2 with A2JMIDID and Qsampler? If the answer is yes, then I'm stoked on giving it a try. I do not know whether or not having MIDI hardware jacks would make a difference.

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 - success!

Does the Scarlett 2i4 function completely now at 24/96 for stereo recording and playback and everything in Linux? I'm using AVLinux and I want to either get a Scarlett 2i4 or 2i2, depending on their capabilities. I just need to record and playback audio at 24/96, be able to use qjackctl and all the ...

Re: Scarlett 2i2

Of course you can use your MIDI keyboard with Linux if its USB or you have a MIDI port somewhere to plug it into. Its recommended you use a2jmidid to do so if you need to connect it to JACK MIDI apps. If so, make sure a2j is installed then you can make it autostart with JACK under qjackctl by addin...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

The Scarlett 2i2 has no MIDI inputs, but I need to know if it can be used to send and receive MIDI signals in qjackctl. Using A2JMIDID, would I be able to connect MIDI software to the 2i2's outputs in the MIDI section of qjackctl's Connections manager? This will determine whether I buy this interfac...

Cooking The Kitchen manifesto!

I wrote a blog about the Cooking The Kitchen album project - it's kind of like a manifesto, explaining the ideas that gave birth to and sustained the project. I hope you enjoy reading it! Here the link:
