Re: The corruption of Audacity

Forking doesn't have to mean completely separate development, it can simply mean releasing audacity under a different name with the tracking code removed. I wouldn't even mind the telemetry as long as it doesn't involve third parties like Google or Yandex, i.e. it should go directly and exclusively ...

Re: Send/receive SysEx using Jack?

I vaguely remember reading some years ago that Jack does not support sysex dumps (not sure if this has changed). Using Jack rather than ALSA for hardware MIDI synths is useless anyway, it's just an additional layer that could cause latency, I always use ALSA MIDI directly with my hardware synths. Ja...

aha, hmm...not sure what to make of that I'm not quite sure why you post quotes about AAC in reference to my statement about MP3. AAC has nothing to do with MP3. To confirm that MP3 is free nowadays (since 2017) just look at the Fedora statement here: https://fedoramagazine.org/full-mp3-support-com...

Furthermore all patents related to MP3 have expired, so MP3 is a free format these days (it has always been open).

@glowrak guy:
I was considering getting one since I like the sound.

But does the editor software for the UNO work well on Linux with Wine?

4 years have passed and now finally a new release of the M1000 Manager is available, and the M1000 Manager now has a dedicated web site. :D

See here: http://m1000-manager.linuxtech.net/

Re: Wine and native Midi Problems

The command amidi -l in a terminal tells you all recognized and available MIDI interfaces on Linux. If it shows up with amidi -l then it's also available in Windows programs running with Wine and any other MIDI software. Generally most USB MIDI interfaces are plug and play, they are recognized as so...

Re: Audio on Linux The End of a Golden Age

Can you please summarise what it is about?

It not very helpful to just post a link to a 1 hour long video without any explanation.
(the slides aren't exactly self-explanatory either)

You know, it's exactly these kind of nasty, unnecessary and off-topic (in this thread) comments that put off a lot of people from releasing their source code.
You are not helping your cause.

Re: High PPI monitor and unreadable fonts

So I'm kinda returning a bit to music and now I have high PPI monitor and at least Calf and Rosegarden have pretty much unreadable fonts and UI. Is there any solution to this? Why do people still hardcode pixels??? Have you made sure that your X-Server is set to the correct dpi? You can check the d...

Troll? Great marketing!! Who sees the title get's interested and starts reading this topic with all confirmations how easy and great it works. Unfortunately there are a lot people these days that just read titles and make assumptions without investigating further. Wether he's a troll or not, I find...

Re: Why is MIDI so broken in Linux?

Can some Mod please change the trollish title of this thread? The OP gives no evidence at all about MIDI being broken, and we all know that MIDI works fine in Linux. A more appropriate title would be "My problems with MIDI" I get the impression we are dealing with a troll, the way the firs...

Re: Open Source, Communities, and the Incoming New EU Copyrights Regulations

So the European parliament yesterday voted with a majority against this law, but apparently that only means that in September they will slightly modify it and then put it up for vote again... The lobbyists clearly never give up
Democracy has become a farce.

Re: Open Source, Communities, and the Incoming New EU Copyrights Regulations

Given that this is a moderated forum, and the law does not mandate a particular kind of content filter, the moderators can be considered "content filters' (thing they indeed are). So Linux musicians would not be considered liable. This is incorrect. The filtering has to happen before the conte...
