MIDI Channels
I have a MIDI controller (Axiom 61 Gen 2) that I have set up to send drum pads on MIDI channel 10 and keys on MIDI channel 1. Problem is I cannot figure out how to tell the MIDI instruments I have hooked up in Ardour5 how to respond only to a particular MIDI channel from the controller. More specifi...

Writing Music
I'm dangerously close to being 50 years old and I have not followed through on a dream that was born when I was 15: to write some music. I have a goal of writing an album by the end of 2018. I'm posting about my efforts at http://dangeroustoons.blogspot.com . I'm using Linux tools, including Ardour,...

Re: jackdbus taking up two CPU cores
I have EXACTLY this same problem (2 cores, using them hard). I believe I've limited it to only arising when the PulseAudio bridge is running, but once it starts, it doesn't stop by killing pulse. I shut off realtime priority as a damage control measure, because otherwise the system becomes unusable ...

Toggle Record Enable in ardour3 with Axiom 69
I've written a MIDI-map for my Axiom 69 (version 2) using the instructions in the Ardour 3 manual. Everything works great, except that I cannot figure out how to get the record function to toggle back and forth between "rec-enable" and "rec-disable" when I press the record transp...

Re: Early Lessons from a Linux Audio Newbie
In re: the H4n, I believe from looking around here that duplexing over USB on the H4n is not supported. I guess this is a downgrade from the H4. The bigger issue is the latency and generally massive xrun problem I was getting over USB with the H4n. I eventually gave up and got a different audio card...

Re: No Sound in Flash with KXStudio
Belay this request for help. For the benefit of others, the problem was a .asoundrc file that was being used to do bridging. I don't know how that file got there, but removing it restored a working pair of alsa2jack and jack2alsa bridges, and thus sound in Flash. Also, I never would have figured thi...

No Sound in Flash with KXStudio
I realize that this doesn't exactly belong here, but since the problem seems to be unique to the KXStudio audio setup, I'm hoping that this is a problem this community knows more about it than the larger Ubuntu world. I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 with the latest KXStudio. After the latest update, I hav...

Early Lessons from a Linux Audio Newbie
I have a consumer gaming desktop with AMD64 quad-core desktop with 12GB of RAM that I recently decided to make into a studio box. I've been partially successful, and it's been quite a bit of trial and error, so I thought I'd write down some lessons learned from my journey for others to use, or provi...

Re: M-Audio Audiophile 2496 Installation
Sure enough. Move the card to another PCI slot and it works "out of the box."

Re: M-Audio Audiophile 2496 Installation
Thanks for the help. AutoStatic, an lsmod shows the right modules are present for the card. I had overlooked the ignored I/O in the lspci output; appreciate the catch tux99. I disabled the internal audio as suggested by CrocoDuck, but cannot disable the NVidia audio. Thanks also for the info that th...

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 Installation
I'm running Xubuntu 12.04, enhanced with ubuntustudio and kxstudio packages. I've been successfully using the audio interface on my NVidia card with ALSA and Jack. However, it's relatively high latency, so I picked up a used M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI card to try, and I'm having trouble getting ALS...

Re: Jack stuck at 32KHz
Thanks for the quick responses. Sorry it took me so long to get back with the result (busy week). Short answer is, you were exactly right. Using my H4n instead of the webcam as the input fixes the problem. Interesting the dirty little secrets you find out when you look under the hood (e.g., webcam o...
