Qtractor: automatic mixer window placement

I have a 2nd screen on my notebook computer and use a searate mixer window with Qtractor. To place the mixer window on the 2nd screen (that's an extension to the right side) I use the following devilspie receipt: ( if ( begin ( is ( window_name ) "Mixer - Qtractor" ) ) ( begin ( unmaximize...

Re: Notebook Tuning

That's a good idea. But my computer can't. So I have now the following blacklist /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-audiotuning.conf # # for pro audio tuning # blacklist bluetooth blacklist btrtl blacklist btintel blacklist btbcm blacklist btusb blacklist uvcvideo blacklist iwlwifi blacklist snd_hda_intel bl...

Re: Notebook Tuning

I have no idea how to measure it. It's about those RT CPU spikes that cause xruns occasionally and force me to use a bigger buffer size. Now my Qtractor projects run slightly better and I can choose somewhat lower buffer sizes without xruns.

Notebook Tuning

Ihave the impression that blacklisting the modules for the built-in USB cam and Bluetooth makes audio processing more reliable. I put the two attachments into /etc/modprobe.d blacklist-uvcvideo.conf blacklist uvcvideo blacklist-bluetooth.conf blacklist bluetooth blacklist btrtl blacklist btintel bla...

Re: Ultralite AVB

AFAIR, it's better to set the sample-rate in a script as well, since the interface keeps it's settings/presets somehow sample-rate specific. For me, the Interface changes samplerate to 192kHz when booting up a USB-connected PC sometimes. In other words: It doesn't "remember" the eq becaus...

Re: Bias Head to Bias Amp using VirtualBox

I found https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=52838 I discovered that the motherboard has USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports (by eventually reading the manual). My device (Toshiba GigaBeat) would give the 'Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_READ_ERROR)' when plugged into...

For me it sounds more like The Shadows than like Surf. Cool anyway.

Beware:Only 1st and 2nd Gen are perfect for Linux.

The upcoming 3rd Gen is probably broken because you need Windows or Mac to switch it to Class Compliant mode.

But 1st and 2nd Gen are great.

Re: Microphone recommendations for speech

I'm on the market for a nice microphone for speech - think webcast/podcast material, but I want it to sound professional. I already have a UA-25EX interface, so either an XLR or a USB mic would work. Budget is, say, up to EUR 100 - though I'd be interested to learn what the quality differences are ...

Re: SCARLETT 3RD GEN just announced

OMG, it's worse than I thought. Focusrite support informed me that Solo and 2i2 are class compliant and have controls for the new "Air" setting, but the interface is shipped in MSD (mass storage devide) mode. Some of us remember the pain with "zeroconf" network devices that prese...

Re: SCARLETT 3RD GEN just announced

It looks as if at least Scarlett Solo and 2i2 of the 3rd gen are still both class compliant and with hardware controls for all features.

I am waiting for confirmation from Focusrite's support.

Re: SCARLETT 3RD GEN just announced

Who thinks he can set up the interface with the iphone/iPad app will encounter a bad surprise if I understand their concept correctly: The app can't control the interface, it controls the control software running on PC or Mac. So they have to develop for three (or four, I guess the app is available...
