Re: Survey: do you use hardware or software synths or both?
Since I'm just starting out... Mainly I use: Hardware: Eowave Domino, Akai Miniak. Other toy keyboards are Yamaha Pss-10 and Casio Sa-5. Two gameboys  Software: Hexter, Zynaddsubfx, Sineshaper I will try to master this, before I go buying other stuff. Although, I'm looking at those semi-mod...

Re: Zynaddsubfx drumkits?
Ooooh, what a great idea!
We could make it as a competition, with kick, snare, clap, cymbals, toms, .... I've never done something like this before, but I'm in!

Re: My experience with linux audio so far
Try kxstudio or avlinux. I've been struggling with ubuntustudio for a few months with all sorts of random dropouts and errors. The moment I switched, a lot of them vanished and I could start doing some music.

Re: Fave Linux DAW poll v2
I'm really trying to love ardour. The one is AVlinux is a lot more stable than when I was using Ubuntu studio, so it's a lot more fun to use and explore. Mixbus seems a really great addition to ardour, especially the mixer section is really useful. I'm considering buying a few linux plugins from lin...

Compiling add64
Add64 is an additive synth, i am trying to use. The sound examples and screenshots at sourceforge are really nice. I'm using avlinux and was looking for a .deb package, but couldn't find any. Then I found this link http://sourceforge.net/projects/add64/?source=dlp with source. Has anyone tried using...

Re: ardour: tracks vs busses?
I think busses are used to add effects/automation to tracks. Then you route the track or multiple tracks to that bus. They can't record audio. more info here: http://en.flossmanuals.net/ardour/ch021_creating-a-track-or-bus/ http://ardour.org/files/reference/dsy24-ARDOUR.html#dsy26-ARDOUR http://ardo...

Re: editor for hardware synthesizer
oops, you're right, I run these thing in windows.
Miniaktools says on the website it can be compiled under linux.
With chippanfire's editor you get the source code which are max/msp patches. I don't think max runs on linux, maybe under wine?

Maybe this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.singlecellsoftware.loopstack&hl=sl I haven't had time to check it out, but there's a youtube video in the description. Maybe the situation with audio got better now... I have a Galaxy S I and the lag can be noticed. There's also some ...

Re: Anyone else using Sineshaper synth?
I used it on a whim for one tune. Listen to the lead synth: https://soundcloud.com/ssj71/haikustorm2 It is a nice synth isn't it! I'm by no means proficient in using it, haven't done much since that recording. But I thought I'd chip in. Great recording, especially the eerie feeling in the beginning...
