Re: No guitar input to Scarlett 2i2
Ah, thanks both. Progress. If I wire the headphone out of a CD player to the input jack on the Scarlett I get a flashing/solid green light around the gain control, and I can hear the output fine. So does this mean the USB port on the laptop isn't fully powered (as sysrqer wondered), and I should the...

Re: No guitar input to Scarlett 2i2
I've tried different cables. When inserting the plug into the guitar I do get a buzz if I touch it to the side of the socket, but no lights.

Re: No guitar input to Scarlett 2i2
No lights at all, except the green USB light and the red 48V light when I switch it on. The Gain control knob lights flash when I put the guitar jack in, but that's it. Muting sounds like a likely cause, but alsamixer shows no controls for the Scarlett when I select it with F6, and (bizarrely) press...

No guitar input to Scarlett 2i2
I'm trying to set up a 2nd-gen Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 to input guitar into a laptop. I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 with a low-latency kernel, and jackd2 (1.9.12~dfsg-2ubuntu2). I have JACK running OK (eg I can get sounds out of amsynth and AMS). Cadence.png I can plug in the Scarlett and, after changing th...

Re: JACK capturing onboard mic
@ Musicteacher When I plugged the Scarlett in, there was an almighty racket. So I unplugged it to troubleshoot, and discovered that simply by attaching the onboard capture to Guitarix I get ambient sounds from the room, my typing, etc. @ tavasti Here's the info: kevin@Aspire-V3-371:~$ cat .jackdrc /...

Re: JACK capturing onboard mic
Yes, I muted in both the playback and capture screens.
I ran the killall command, but (response: jackd: no process found) when I start JACK again with Cadence, load Guitarix, and connect capture to gx_head_amp, I still get sound from the flippin' onboard mic!

Re: JACK capturing onboard mic
Yes, I've already tried to mute Mic Boost and Capture on the onboard card using alsmixer, but it seems to have no effect once the capture port is connected to (eg) guitarix. The input device is a Scarlett 212 (USB).

Re: JACK capturing onboard mic
No, they're not ticked, but if I do tick them I get the same effect as manually connecting in Catia, namely, input from the onboard mic. I think it must be some setting of the onboard soundcard, but I can't think of how to access that. Thanks anyway.

JACK capturing onboard mic
I'm using a new Ubuntu 18.04 install with kxstudio on an Acer Aspire V laptop. Running the quickscan script gives: == GUI-enabled checks == Checking if you are root... no - good Checking filesystem 'noatime' parameter... 4.15.0 kernel - good (relatime is default since 2.6.30) Checking CPU Governors....

Re: Add Printer tool broken [SOLVED]
I didn't have to reinstall - just compared the packages installed on stock Kubuntu and those on KXStudio.
I was right - KXStudio Live does not install the package cups. Once this is installed, the KDE Add Printer tool will work.
Perhaps this should be put on the FAQ?

Re: Add Printer tool broken
I think not. It's true that there has been a recurrent bug with this module over the last few years, but on the same machine I've just installed Ubuntu 12.04, and then added the kubuntu-desktop package. The Printer Configuration module opens fine on that. The system-config-printer-kde package is at ...

Add Printer tool broken
Hi In the latest KXStudio, if you do K -> Settings -> System Settings -> Hardware -> Printer Configuration to add a printer, you get the following: "The service 'Printer Configuration' does not provide an interface 'KCModule' with keyword 'system-config-printer-kde/system-config-printer-kde.py....
