Re: recording automation data

Progress! :D scr031.png For some reason not all parameters appear in the list. It's not random, so there is a rule somewhere in non code for discarding some controls. I think you've just about figured the interface out. I had planned to clean up, factor out, and actually document it (and even packa...

Re: zynaddsubfx concept ui

(even better if the knobs are given friction) Feel free to disagree with this, but if I had an open source program give knobs friction against what I tell it to do with the mouse I would be motivated to get the source and remove the friction myself. I might not know what kind of action you are refe...

Re: zynaddsubfx concept ui

You seem to insinuate that I'm trying to simplify a bloated and archaic interface just because I don't "understand how the synthesis engines work". I do have at least the slightest of an inkling of how additive/subtractive/FM synthesis works--by no means do I claim to be an expert, but I ...

Re: zynaddsubfx concept ui

I think a major issue with any set redesign is that it is very likely to cater to the use cases of the designer and overlook how other people use it. People seem to use the current UI in many very different ways as it stands. Due to the shear number of options there are, tabs seem to make sense and...

Re: Linux-rt kernel and usb mouse/keyboard

I use a USB mouse/keyboard & a USB audio interface. Moreover, I run my usb-hid polling frequency at 500Hz (default is 120Hz IIRC). No problems.

Re: zynaddsubfx concept ui

Why do I feel like it's the blind leading the blind here? Cause this is a subjective subject. Nobody "knows" what a good gui is. figure out a way to express everything ZynAddSubFX can do in a signle (larger!) window, that would solve 99% of the problems with the current interface. ...

Re: zynaddsubfx concept ui

Oh, and for some actual constructive criticism: If you forget about inventing new widgets and/or ripping off Ableton Live et al and just figure out a way to express everything ZynAddSubFX can do in a signle (larger!) window, that would solve 99% of the problems with the current interface. It would a...

Re: Multiband compressor suitable for mastering

I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear, but have you considered the fact that if you need a multiband compressor at the mastering stage that that is an indication of problems with the mix that could be better solved in the mixing context/stage? Unless you're stuck with stereo mixdowns, I don't se...

Re: Using an older pc as a sound module for my midi keyboard

I strongly suggest looking at AVLinux, if you haven't already. It's specifically set up for older hardware and I believe it has Cadence included that Doosc mentioned. I'm not sure about Claudia, but I'm sure there is a way to do what you're trying to do and you've come to the right place for help. ...

Thanks Thad! Lets hope you like this weeks too. Yep! Very good. (I would have liked to listen to the music, but kept getting error messages about not having Flash, even after I whitelisted the site.) Fyi you can enable html5 (bandcamp.com/html5), but it only works with mp3 capable browsers. For fir...

Re: JACK, Carla, NSM, Non-Mixer + ??? = WIN :)

non-sequencer and sunvox can both do jack-midi, but they have some design limitations. oh, and AriaMaestosa too with some tweaks, but their linux support is very poor. I've only glanced at sunvox, but I'd be happy with non-sequencer or aria if either were more complete. I can't help but wonder, @ma...

New Album!

I'm pleased to announce the release of my debut album, Sad Pretty Girl. I've been making music privately for a while, but this is the first time I've published any of it. I spent the last couple of years recording, mixing and mastering this album (engineered in stereo compatible Ambisonics UHJ surro...
