Re: Installing on mac book pro

I know it's an old thread but I ran across it yesterday and since nobody followed up to falkTX I figured I'd follow up with my own shot of KXStudio running on a 17" macbook pro (with a 27" apple thunderbolt secondary monitor attached) Seriously nothing to it - install rEFIt (or rEFInd) and...

Re: Linux supported 8-port MIDI interface - which to buy?

here here, BR. Thanks for the follow up. I was tempted to state what I thought I knew as fact and that is what you basically stated - all hardware needs a driver of some sort, whether you're aware of it or not from the user level. Great follow up, I tend to agree with you on the win/mac stance - pre...

Yeah you're right, that's straight from KDE's logo.
I wanted to borrow something besides those subtle wavy lines from the "official" KXStudio logo, but yep thats the kde gear. damn. Maybe I'll play around with it more.

GXStudio (KXstudio w/ Gnome, not KDE) logo

If you run KXStudio with a gnome2 DE like I do, you might think like I did that KXStudio should have a different logo, sans the KDE reference.. say... GXStudio? Attached is a PNG I gimped up.. I kinda like it, figured I'd share if anybody else might find it fits their liking.. I'm tinkering around w...

Re: Patchage, Gladish, Claudia etc. : What is the difference

smoakland! I'm living over by SF State now but was living right by park and 580 a few years back. Small world! Welcome. It's a damn good question.. I'm no expert but have spent a good bunch of time working in kxstudio in the past few weeks. Patchage, Gladish and Claudia, as far as I understand are n...

Re: need help getting a Motu MTPAV USB working in Linux

I apologise for the 'epic fail'. The contrast between your renewed efforts over some years, and your decision to turn down such common 'niece level' advice, made me laugh. While choosing 'none' does not guarantee success, choosing the others will likely require a magic wand. Either way, if you succ...

When you insert the device, does anything show up in /var/log/messages? It's on and plugged in ATM, but if i unplug then plug back in I get: Jan 26 18:34:55 paraD330 kernel: [ 1027.880254] usb 4-2: USB disconnect, address 3 Jan 26 18:35:04 paraD330 kernel: [ 1036.228031] usb 4-1: new full speed USB...

[performance mythbusters] nvidia's.run vs nouveau

I've been doing a series of JACK benchmarking tests comparing kernels and modules loaded into the kernel.. namely the topic at hand here is regarding video drivers. I'm gearing up to be glued to my laptop for the next month while working on my RPM 2012 entry so I wanted to do put to rest some genera...

Re: need help getting a Motu MTPAV USB working in Linux

epic fail  You didn't just say that did you? am I being schooled by my 12 year old niece here? Thanks for the tip. It's not all that clear that to keep Alsa as the MIDI driver you select "none" as the MIDI driver. To me "none" would imply you're not asking anything to handl...

need help getting a Motu MTPAV USB working in Linux

This is a tangent off the "which MIDI interface to buy" thread I started after seeming to hit a brick wall with getting the MOTU MTPAV USB operating under Linux... I'm feeling adventurous, not so anxious to dish out for a new interface despite MOTU's lack of cooperation with the Linux comm...

Benchmarking - How to gather metrics from JACK

QJACKctl offers some nice up to the moment info and statistics on your CPU load. To make that info more useful, especially when tuning a system, I'm curious can the CPU load can be logged somehow, either within qjackctl or something else? I would love to be able to start JACK, let it run for X numbe...

Re: Gnome Shell : heavy weight DEs are fine for audio?

I'm actually in the midst of doing some benchmark tests to get tuned for RPM 2012 ( http://rpmchallenge.com/ )... It depends on what you mean "fine for audio". If you dont get XRuns and you're happy then that's great. Contrary to apparent believe in this thread people HAVE benchmarked and ...
