Re: real time noise cancellation plugin

As far as the noise cancellation - as the native Linux REAPER port comes along, the built-in ReaFir effect has a "subtract" mode. It allows you to take a snapshot of a track (for instance a short part with only the background noise of a microphone) and then automatically subtract that fro...

Error installing Guitarix from KXStudio repos Kubuntu 16.04

Hi all, I am getting an unmet dependencies error when attempting to install Guitarix from KXStudio repos on Kubuntu 16.04. I installed Kubuntu 16.04 beta 2 and have upgraded along the way until now. Other programs have installed and work fine such as Cadence, Ardour, Qtractor etc. I see at least one...

Re: Totalchaos (the song) & The butterfly effect announcement

I got a bit excited when I saw that The Butterfly Effect used free software, only then to realise that it is not the well known Australian band of the same name that I grew up listening too

How to install Debian and KXStudio?

Hi guys, I am hearing that Debian and KXStudio are ready to use. I have KXStudio 12.04 installed at the moment. I have not used Debian before and need some help. I know that Debian has stable, unstable, and experimental repostiories, but how do you install Debian? Do I just download the current vers...

Thanks falkTX,

I'll give it a try, I'm starting to think I should just move back to KXstudio. I'm lost without your repos :)

EQ10Q V2-Beta4-1 and Fedora 19

Hi all, Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I am having difficulty compiling EQ10Q plugins on Fedora 19 (Korora 19). It is due to a dependency on a newer version of gtkmm than the one provided by fedora. Does anyone know where I can get an rpm for fedora of the latest EQ10Q plugins? Tha...

Re: What distros are you using?

Korora 19 It's based on Fedora and of Australian origin like me :D I always used ubuntu variants because it made installing graphics drivers and codecs easy. Korora does all that Ubuntu does but is based on Fedora. I am so happy to have gotten away from canonical. Korora 19, Not a single x-run yet :D

PulseAudio 4.0 looks good

Just reading the release notes on PA 4.0 as I discovered it on phoronix.com http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/4.0/ It looks very positive to me Bug fix highlights: *Issues with device handover to JACK were fixed. JACK should be now able to reliably acquire the sound card whil...

Re: Making Music Fill Speakers

Hey, Is JAMin even maintained anymore? I studied under a very good mastering engineer for 3 years, JAMin has no real benefit over plugins that I can see. It is still a nice piece of software but seriously, if it ain't working for ya.... it's not like it will magically fix your mixing :?

Re: Making Music Fill Speakers

Hi, If you are having difficulty getting jamming to work. I would suggest you try this. - bounce mix to stereo - open new ardour session and import the bounce to a stereo track - use plugins to "master" your track - latest calf plugins are good, the multiband comppressor will do what you w...

Re: Noise floor in a home studio- what is reasonable to expe

The only way you can reduce the noise floor in your studio is to buy better gear. I don't know how much money you are willing to spend but the peavey mixer you have is not considered pro gear. If you buy a better mixer, approx $1000 per channel will give you better results. I personally would recomm...

Ok, this one goes without saying.

Ardour 3.0.0

I tried to download it from ardour.org but for some reason the paypal link isn't working for me.
