Re: Windows VST GUI not refreshing

Usually when you get this behavior it's because the plugin requires dxvk. It's needed for a lot of newer JUCE-based plugins. I have Oddity 3 and OB-E running on Linux and they are like this so I imagine M-Tron is as well. What you need to do is set up a new wine prefix (to avoid messing up your exi...

Re: Windows VST GUI not refreshing

Ah, I was hoping it might be a known, general issue with GUIs. I would try the linux Reaper demo, and it's windows version in wine, from a live dvd of AVLinux, which has wine, wineasio, yabridge, and a linux Reaper demo setup by default. I downloaded both Windows and Linux versions from the Reaper s...

Windows VST GUI not refreshing

I'm having problems with GForce Software's M-Tron Pro IV . It works fine except that the GUI doesn't refresh/update when you turn knobs, press buttons etc. In Carla, if I destroy the GUI window and then reshow it, the new knob positions etc show but it's a pain having to hide/show the window, especi...

Re: Carla/SFZero transpose problem

It wasn't known to me. Sample pitch/transpose seems to me a pretty basic, fundamental feature of any sampler/sample format. To not support it when it exists seems a critical oversight -- I'm sure there will be lots of sample sets that aren't based on full multisampling and hence use pitching where S...

Carla/SFZero transpose problem

I've just discovered today that there's a problem with SFZ support in Carla -- I guess this is a problem with the move to SFZero and that it's SFZero that doesn't support SFZ properly. The last time I used Carla with these SFZ instruments was many, many months ago and everything was working fine. Ba...

Re: Hydrogen: hihat openness

So are you saying that it can handle CC#4 if it's fed to it, but there's no way of programming it within the Hydrogen sequencer? I did at one point manage to feed automation from Ardour into Hydrogen, which was sending MIDI back to the samples loaded in Ardour, but it didn't work reliably. So I gave...

Re: Hydrogen: hihat openness

I find Hydrogen mostly fine for my purposes and I'm programming complex progressive rock drum parts in unusual time signatures and with every single bar different (i.e. programmed individually). My only complaints are not being able to programme CC4 in Hydrogen and the fact that lead/lag (which is v...

Re: Hydrogen: hihat openness

Thanks, I'm aware of how to use Hydrogen but I'm happy using the SFZs and don't want to spend ages loading WAVs into H2 – I'd also lose the round robin capabilities because AFAIK H2 doesn't support that. That also still doesn't address how to programme MIDI CC4 to trigger different samples: SFZ alre...

Re: Hydrogen: hihat openness

It's SFZs that I'm using. I'm used to programming in Hydrogen, been doing it longer than Ardour has had MIDI support and I particularly like the ease of entering velocities compared to Ardour. I have the SFZs loaded in Carla-rack on a channel in Ardour and the two sync'd together whilst I'm programm...

Re: Hydrogen: hihat openness

Thanks but this isn't anything to do with mute groups. The openness of a hihat can be controlled by a particular MIDI CC (I forget the exact number), triggering different samples depending on the CC value. The samples I use have seven or eight degrees from fully closed to fully open: I'm not at my D...

Re: welcome new members more?

No, I'm British. Me too, old bean  Kindness doesn't cost a thing (but it's so hard to be nice for some  ). So even the "open source community" seems to have it's selfish egoists. And then those speaking to me requiring "to be open " so the whole world...

Re: welcome new members more?

Something I absolutely detest when shopping is getting accosted the second I step foot in a shop and asked if I need help or what am I looking for before you've had time to even get orientated. The assistants who do that are generally nowhere to be found when you actually do need help and aren't obs...

Hydrogen: hihat openness

Is there a way to program hihat openness within Hydrogen? At the moment I'm having to do all programming except hihat openness in H2, export a midi file, then automate the hihat in Ardour. It'd be good to be able to do everything within H2 if possible and only import into Ardour once everything (hih...

Re: Carla issues

As I thought, the new version of Carla isn't saving all settings of a plugin's state, though it is changing some. I've filed a bug report. The .gig issue seems to be a Linuxsampler issue. That used to work, but just now when I tried loading .gig files, it crashes every time saying "Could not ge...
