PSA : Harbinger LX12 USB Mixer is Supported

I just purchased a Harbinger LX12 USB mixer because... well... it was on sale. USB is ASIO 2in 2out full duplex. I'm happy to announce that it was plug and play on Ubuntu Studio 22.04 running JACK (with KXStudio packages installed as well - I use Cadence as my JACK frontend). I already had WineASIO ...

New Interface - USB, TB, or FireWire?

So... I think my trusty M-Audio Profire 2626 FireWire interface (8x8 analogue I/O) is dead. I still have some testing to fully determine if it's the interface or the controller. But if the interface is in fact dead, I'll need to consider what to replace it with. I'm going to make a case to replace w...

Noob - Can't Get Going

OK... so I've been at this for several hours now and haven't been able to figure out the issue, nor find a solution on the inter-webs for it. I'm running KXStudio 14.04.2 off a live USB drive. Just test-driving it before I install it. I did the "Create a simple LADISH studio using Claudia"...

Re: Video Editors

I have used both Cinelerra and Blender (once). Cinelerra I used quite extensively several years ago. It is very powerful and fairly stable (it crashed... but not very often). The program is great. A lot can be done with it. I haven't used it in a while, but I'm going back to Linux for MM production....

KXStudio & AVLinux

I am getting back into music production after a long hiatus and it looks like I need to try both these distros/suites to see what might work better for me. However, one question I haven't been able to find an answer: Do either of these distros support dual/triple monitors without a lot of hassle? I ...

Soft Synths - Where to Start?

I am trying to delve into the Linux MIDI world. But I can't seem to get a handle on the available soft synths. I'm not much of a sound creator. I like composing/sequencing. So I prefer to download instrument libraries instead of building them myself (soundfonts seem to be the most available). The pr...
