Re: Zoom/Skype replacement for Musicians on Linux?
I sort of got 'original sound' working in Zoom on Linux using pulseaudio. It requires you to either use headphones or mute your speakers (or it will squeal very badly). 1. In your Zoom meeting, mute yourself. 2. Also in Zoom, click on Share Screen \ Advanced \ Computer Sound Only \ Share. 3. Mute yo...

Re: Does Lowlatency Kernal have Real-Time Preemption?
I assume that means the kernel is getting the right flag at boot time. Yep, that's what you're looking for. Now you just need to install the rtirq-init package so rtprio for audio related stuff gets set to something other than 50. :D I know it's mentally draining to see a script say "not good&...

Re: AV Linux 2020.4.10 Released!!
hello Glenn, but why aren't the basic debian buster repositories included in the kernel section? I would have liked to try to see if with the kernel 4.19 rt av linux, as mx linux 19 and studio music 64 recognized me the audio card maudio firewire only. With the serial kernel of av linux the card is...

Re: Does Lowlatency Kernal have Real-Time Preemption?
I think this means that thread_irq is enabled, right? It means your kernel supports threaded irq's. It doesn't necessarily mean they are enabled; you still need to pass the 'threadirqs' flag to the kernel at boot time. You'll also want to make sure rtirq is installed so the priorities actually get ...

Re: AV Linux 2020.4.10 Released!!
after installing av linux 64 I unfortunately had many problems with my firewire sound card only that it was not recognized nor using the alsa firewire drivers, while with the old ffado drivers many attempts to hook the card were unsuccessful. I'll dig out my Firepods and see what I can find. Firewi...

Re: Does Lowlatency Kernal have Real-Time Preemption?
Forgive me if we've had this discussion before, but I thought the lowlatency kernel had real-time preemption. Am I missing something? The lowlatency kernel has some preemption, but not full real-time preemption. A lowlatency kernel with threaded irq's will perform almost as well as (and sometimes b...

Re: New AV Linux Kernel Repository now public!
Hi everybody! There's a new batch of kernels for your testing, usage, and enjoyment. This time, there are four kernels available: For 32 bit: (i386) linux-4.9.40-rt30avl2 linux-4.9.40-lowlatency-avl2 And for 64 bit: (amd64) linux-4.9.40-rt30avl2 linux-4.9.40-lowlatency-avl2 The 'rt' kernels are upda...

Re: Video Editing in Linux
Thanks for the patch, that's interesting. So NVidia goes and stands in line but doesn't take a number, and we apply a cute little hack to wait for anybody who's in line but hasn't taken a number like they are supposed to? It is frequently possible to hack things so those drivers will work, but you g...

Re: DoReMiFa Solfege
THANKS, part of what you say is what I'm interested in because I can DOodle the flying Do major scale (if that's what it's going to be called). I'm even thinking of learning to do it in terms of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 which would seem even more useful if I can teach myself. Your use of a chord to guide scal...

Re: DSP running at 100% during exporting in Ardour
Also now after exporting, the analyzed export window plays with no sound. When that exported file is open with say Audacity, it plays.. As GMag mentioned, if it is supposed to do that then cool. Running at 100% I mean. It just never did it with the old interface unless it was a samplerate conversio...

Re: "failed to load module" after installing Gren-Trulan's AV Jessie kernel
Does midi work as well? Does the snd_seq_midi module load properly? You can check if it's loaded with: lsmod | grep snd_seq_midi If it's not, try manually loading the module (as root): modprobe snd_seq_midi I don't usually have snd_seq_midi in etc/modules, it has always worked for me to let the syst...

Re: New AV Linux Kernel Repository now public!
4.4.6-rt13-avl2 works with ice1712. It also seemed to boot super fast. Thanks for the report, the ice1712 issue was a result of a config decision on Debian's part. The AV Linux kernels all should have included the driver module and should not have been affected by that bug. I only have 1 complaint....

Re: Broadcom-sta wireless and xruns...
Hmm, I have a Dell Latitude E5500 that acts exactly the same way, both on the Broadcom-sta driver and the b43 driver. My solution is - you guessed it - to turn wireless off while using firewire. But on mine, the wireless card and the firewire controller are on the same IRQ and I always figured that ...

Re: JACK+M Audio Fast Track Pro+rakarrak help
When you reboot, you should see kernel 3.0.16-avl-7 in your boot menu. While running, you can enter 'uname -a' in a terminal and it will report your kernel cersion.

Re: JACK+M Audio Fast Track Pro+rakarrak help
Hi guys, Well, good news! The fix for this issue landed in 3.0.13 as well as in 3.1.6, so the kernel we have queued up for the next AVLinux ISO should be just the ticket: http://www.bandshed.net/kernels/3.0.16-avl-7.zip @TheSafePlaces: Download that .zip file and extract it. Then you can either open...
