Re: It's coming...

Re: cpu frequency scaling
Thanks to you all, this thread was helpful for setting up my Ubuntu 12.04 system for audio work (particularly the 2nd post by philip888 on the 1st page). Much less xruns now with qtractor.

Try deleting or renaming QjackCtl.conf at ~/.config/rncbc.org ?

Re: Renoise and dssi ( and jack )
Yes, those falktx repos are for Lucid. Maybe you could try with fresh install of Ubuntu or Lubuntu (Lucid). Another lightweight option is Ubuntu Minimal 10.04 with lxde desktop: http://tapanisysimetsa.blogspot.com/2010/07/ubuntu-minimal-studio-preparation_10.html There are also instructions for sett...

Re: Renoise and dssi ( and jack )
Renoise does support native Linux VSTs and Tal plugins work ok here with 64-bit Ubuntu. Maybe Renoise forum could help too, e.g. here:
http://www.renoise.com/board/index.php?showtopic=27843
Both jack1 or jack2 should do. I've got better results with jack2 from falktx repos.

Re: Renoise and dssi ( and jack )
hi! DSSIs seem to work with Renoise also without running Jack, so I guess that, in principle, dssi-vst should work too. However, my experiences with dssi-vst have been somewhat shaky. Some Windows VSTs have worked in Renoise/Linux while others not. Also, as far as I know, chunks are still not suppor...

Re: Renoise 2.6 with DSSI & 64-bit Linux support
Final version of 2.6 has now been released. http://www.renoise.com/about/what-s-new-2-6 http://www.renoise.com/download/renoise DSSI support works well here in 64-bit. I mostly use Calf Fluidsynth (git-version) for soundfonts, Whysynth and ZynAddSubFx (no GUI). LADSPA plugins work fine too. If thing...

Re: Soda P - Pent-Up (demo-track)
sounds good in its own genre. i especially like the synth riff. indeed, i would also take the vocals in the middle. and the song ends halfway too soon? on the other hand, these are just the "rules" that our ears are trained to follow nowadays. sometimes it's healthy to throw them out of th...

Indeed, great tune and production. Reminds me of Bowie too, although this certainly has a lot of its own atmosphere. Thanks for sharing!

Renoise 2.6 with DSSI & 64-bit Linux support
There was a “confession thread” somewhere... My confession is that after nearly five years of making music with open source apps only, I've now paid for Renoise. With mixed feelings I need to say... damn, it's good. Tracker-type of interface certainly does not fit for all types of music, but I think...

Hello world :)
I've been lurking here for a longer time, but it seems that only now I took the time to sign in. I wonder why I did not do it before! For a Linux musician, this is indeed a nice and useful corner, which just keeps growing new branches. I had terrible time back in 2005 when I had promised to mix an E...

Ubuntu Minimal audio system
Hello, here is a how-to for building a light-weight, yet powerful music production system on Ubuntu Minimal 10.04 LTS: http://tapanisysimetsa.blogspot.com/2010/07/ubuntu-minimal-studio-preparation_10.html I've been testing and making music with this setup for some time now, it's been really stable. ...
