Re: Fender Mustang amp barely audible when recording

Ok I figured it out. But the solution may or may not be achievable in Linux with the PLUG software. So I went into my windows computer and used the FUSE software with the amp. Under the advanced tab there is a setting for USB gain. By default it is set to near zero! So I had to boost the gain for al...

Fender Mustang amp barely audible when recording[solved]

Trying to get my Fender Mustang 1 v1 working within Ardour3. It's configured in Jack and will record in Ardour but it's dreadfully quiet. I have tried turning the amp volume up as well as the turning the input in Ardour up but nothing works. It's set-up such where the amp is the input and the laptop...

Re: jack won't start - jackdbus issue [solved]

So I did some searching and found this: http://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=10360 It appears adding the below solved it: sudo apt-get install python3-dbus python3-dbus.mainloop.qt Hopefully you guys don't mind me posting these issues and cluttering up the boards with my apparent t...

jack won't start - jackdbus issue

Working through some issues. Got the low latency kernel installed, did some updates, installed cpufreq, wine, and now after reboot jack doesn't work and is all grayed out in cadence. It says jackdbus is unavailable and server status is unavailable. Trying to start jack from qjackctl shows this: 19:0...

Re: Can't install KXstudio over 12.04 base install KDE fail

[update] Got it fixed. For some reason when I added the kx repo via the software center it was like it wouldn't take correctly. I tried it 3 times and every time I got stopped at installing the kxstudio-desktop. I decided to redo adding the repos via commandline, and everything worked perfectly. Why...

Can't access Zoom HD8 hard drive from linux

I have a Zoom HD8 8-track recorder that I use a lot. I can access it's hard drive from within windows but not my Ubuntu 11.04 laptop. It essentially functions as a USB hard drive in this respect. I can connect portable usb drives to my linux laptop no problem from the same port. I was able to access...

jack1 vs jack2 discussion

So I am investigating all things linux audio recently, really trying to understand the why and how of certain things. Currently I am trying to understand why I would need Jack1 vs Jack2. It looks as though SMP is the biggest difference for my use. To that end I am trying to understand the following ...

Anyone use din (din is noise)?

Having some issues with it. First time I launched it it worked well and was messing around making some drone type noises. Seemed pretty cool. Well it crashed. I tried to launch again using command line and now I get a segmentation fault. I tried reinstalling and then adding the new version but still...

Can't get midi to work with my Tascam us122

I have audio working well with my us122. can record, playback, etc. Then decided I would like to connect my MPC1000 and use the pads for some input. Well the midi light on the us122 blinks when I hit a pad, but none of the applications in show any signs of life. I tried Renoise, Hydrogen, Rosegarden...

Re: find original tempo of a loop

Well I have been investigating this and was looking into maybe trying to program a little utility in Python for this cause (although my skills are pretty weak). Well I found a little free windows app(MixMeister, screenshot follows) however that works pretty well to this cause. For the time being I a...

find original tempo of a loop

The one windows software I go back and back again to is Sony Acid. One feature I find very helpful to me is the "use original tempo feature" (pic attached). Is there a program for linux that can do this? If I have a miscellaneous loop I don't know the tempo of and I want to use it in say, ...
