Re: MIDI problem upon ALSA update [solved]

Sort of solved — I nuked ALSA 1.0.25 and installed 1.0.21 instead (I chose that version arbitrarily), and the UA-25EX MIDI ports reappeared.

Re: MIDI problem upon ALSA update

This is what it looks like, with Ardour running just for example's sake. seq driver: (normally the audio interface would show up here) http://koti.kapsi.fi/~vs/jackseqmidi.png raw driver: (I can't remember what this would look like normally) http://koti.kapsi.fi/~vs/jackrawmidi.png With 'none' drive...

Re: MIDI problem upon ALSA update

I tested with a Delta 1010LT card and have the same result, so it's not a USB-related thing.

Re: MIDI problem upon ALSA update

Thanks, but I don't think that's it. Right now I would have to use raw anyway since nothing else makes audio interface ports appear at all—there's nothing for a2jmidid to bridge if I set driver to none or seq.

MIDI problem upon ALSA update [solved]

I compiled the latest ALSA libs (1.0.25) and the MIDI ports of my audio interface (UA25EX) no longer show up when using JACK with the seq driver. They do show up as "in/out-hw-1-0-0-UA-25EX-MIDI-1" when I run JACK with the raw driver, but then I have to raise buffer size by more than I can...

Re: The quickest, simplest sampler?

Yes, that's what I mean. What does Lisalo expect of Linuxsampler settings? When I try to run your script by itself, it complains "no engine is assigned to the channel yet"; when I start linuxsampler first with some initial config, the script hangs at not being able to bind an LSCPServer so...

I don't have one but they themselves promise Linux compatibility.

Re: The quickest, simplest sampler?

Anything that works and is fast to use. As far as I can tell Hydrogen can't spread a note across more than one MIDI note or make a sound loop until noteoff.

I suppose I could jury-rig something in Pure Data if there's no ready tool...

The quickest, simplest sampler?

I want to load up a .wav file and set it to transpose across a MIDI channel. Just that, nothing else. QSampler and JSampler are enormously overengineered and crashy. I don't want Gigedit, I don't want channel and orchestra metaphors, I don't want any hurdles, I don't want constant crashes. Does some...

Re: Sharing an Ardour project between differing systems

Thanks for the answers! Yes, I meant sharing a project, not simultaneous recording. I'll just shop for a device that can run at 48kHz/24bit.

Sharing an Ardour project between differing systems

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or Ardour question. My current recording setup is as follows. System 1: desktop machine at home, used for instrument recording System 2: laptop, used as a portable system to record vocal tracks in acoustically better spaces I plug my UA-25EX interface between the t...

Re: Recent controllers with only a USB MIDI out

I want to use a MIDI controller with and without a computer in the loop and I'm out to find out if this excludes, even if only for inconvenience, devices that operate through USB MIDI.

(Oh, and thanks for recommending the Edirol UA-something over at Ubuntuforums last winter. It works perfectly.)

Re: Recent controllers with only a USB MIDI out

Thanks. Now, though, it occurs to me that there's also the problem of such devices being USB powered, and that's not quite as easily fixed, is it...
