I heard a long long time ago that VIA PCI control chipsets can be troublesome. Does your motherboard have any VIA chips near or around the PCI sockets?
That's my first guess.

Re: Project to refer to: band just released 100%-FOSS-made album
I wish I could have made this claim, but after reviewing the packages I used there was that proprietary sound card driver on SuSE 9.0
and the fact they have a $500 sound card. I'll gamble that I had just as much fun as they did making it.
Good show.

Re: Kernel 2.6.36 - A true musicians Kernel ?
I have become acutely interested in this topic after having read Linus'
endorsement of the kernel patch mentioned, however, more research
is needed. I will post some results to this thread as they are achieved.

Re: Hydrogen + Audacity | Ben Zene
Ok, I see... No double bass yet? ;) I'll start bassguitar lessons this week... It's been a while since you suggested it, but I took your advice. Using my handy-dandy Digitech BP-200 amp/cabinet modeler I was able to create a patch that is so friggin low it will knock yo momma off the couch. Emulate...

Re: here my song about being a pinup for woman in prison
Did you use linux for the audio/video production and if so, which distro?
The song has a Steven Foster nostalgia to it and ironic comedy value. Good stuff.

Re: Competition: Create best hydrogen drumkit
:D Earlier estimates for sample prefrobnication were greatly exaggerated. My entry for the h2drumkit is now available for download.... It's not perfect but it's close enough for rock and roll. http://listen.to/benzene to download(bottom of page). The files in question are as follows: OP-Demo.h2song ...

Re: Competition: Create best hydrogen drumkit
I have the raw samples of my drummers Pacific Drumworks kit but it will take another 20 hours to get the individual samples polished up for production. I guess this means I won't have an entry for the contest in time. In any case, the samples and h2kit will be made public as soon as I can get it fin...

Re: Competition: Create best hydrogen drumkit
I'm down. I joined a band a few months ago and my drummer has agreed to let me sample his kit. Great for sampling a real kit... are you multi-layering it? That's the best way to get the real kit sound. If yeah, will you make the samples available? I'll do what I can with it. I'm still lea...

drum and bass mixed h2kit available
Hello all, I've been experimenting with the stock GMKit by adding bass notes. The end result I have in mind is a multi layered drum kit with bass notes of differing durations. This would enable folks to program both bass and drum parts together. The bass samples go from low b to a# in chromatic asce...

Drum Sample set
Hello all, As promised, I have finished a new set of drum samples. I'm uncertain as to whether or not to create an actual h2kit so I thought this time I would just roll all of the ogg files together and let it go as is. I am sure there are plenty of howtos on making your own h2kits available. Incide...

Re: OSS Pro || ALSA Drivers?
I don't have the same problem at playback. Playback and monitoring are both in stereo, any setting that works(in audacity preferences) will only record the right channel.

OSS Pro || ALSA Drivers?
Hi all, I'm in the process of upgrading to 64Studio/Ubuntu Studio and I have been looking for other opinions regarding which sound drivers to use. My machine is a dual cpu 500Mhz Dell with 512MB ram and an M-Audio Fast Track USB audio interface. The installs went well, grub sees all the partitions i...
