Re: Tascam US-1200?

Are you sure the Tascam US-1200 is class compliant? http://tascam.com/product/us-1200/downloads/ There is a driver for Mac OS listed on the manufacturer's download page, which typically means it is not class compliant. Class compliant devices should not require a special driver for Mac OS. Tascam's...

Re: Tascam US-1200?

Ok, PEBKAC. Should have checked first: the pc only has USB 1.1 and the US-1200 will do only USB 2.0. I'll try the laptop when I have some time.

Tascam US-1200?

Anybody already tried this one? I got one for a W7 setup (because it was very cheap) but as it is a class compliant interface it should also work on Linux. But I'm not having much success. It is the first time I try USB-audio with linux as well, so I might be doing stupid things (very likely). - run...

Re: skype cuts suport for alsa....and now?

I'm glad the likes of falkTX et al have enabled JACK to become a defacto sound server for a complete desktop system. I will not compromise it with crap software unless my life absolutely dependended on it. Same here, don't install any audio software that can't use Jack. Yeah, my mp3 player doesn't ...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

Came because I'm interested in swapping my FA-66 for such a scarlett. Read the whole thread but I still fail to see what the clock source would have to do with this problem or how external clock would solve this. There should not (and cannot) be a relation between the pc and scarlett with regard to ...

Re: What filesystem are you using?

Using ext2 for /boot, / is reiserfs, /data is xfs and the bachup hd is jfs. For the laptop it is ext2 for /boot and all the rest xfs. The only one that has needed attention thus far is the jfs, but no dataloss.

Even weirder, one of their other softwares is called Catia. Another big name 3D mechanical design package.

Sad that is all doesn't work. Going to try out avlinux, hopefully that turns out better.

Re: KXStudio live?

Ok, I borrowed another screen and connected that to the dvi output of the pc. Now it "works". Well it boots and I get Dolphin and Konsole to appear on the screen. Funny thing is that both screen display the same thing. And there isn't a desktop switcher. But the biggest issue is that I fin...

Re: KXStudio live?

No, I can't show a screenshot as I cannot get any program to actually show up on the screen. I get the background, taskbar and 2 icons. If I start an application (cadence, konsole, dolphin) there comes a field on the taskbar. If I hover the mouse over that it says "xxx on desktop 1". And i...

KXStudio live?

Booted KXStudio as a live dvd and it looks ok, but everything appears on desktop 1 and from the look of it I'm on some other desktop. But there is no desktop switcher and if I take a look at the installed widgets, the desktop switcher is installed. Nice background, but how do you actually do somethi...

RME digi96/8 and JACK: only 2 io channels

I'm playing a bit with a mini ITX board that I have around and I put my RME digi96/8 card on it. Using Gentoo and Jack with Qjackctl. Compiled support for the RME digi96/8 directly into the kernel and nothing for the onboard Intel sound. Same setup as I use on the desktop but there it is a digi9652....

Re: Looking for distro - non Pae

Maybe the best way to go would be to start from zero with something like Gentoo or Slack. That would enable you to build a really minimal system with only what you need. Getting Gentoo running from usb with lxde shouldn't be that hard. There are a few distros specially for USB around (like Porteus) ...

Sorry to bump this up, but is there any new data on this? I was looking for a Scarlett but have been offered a second hand US2000. Not much on the net about it either.

Re: PCI Slots In New AMD A88X-based Motherboards

Computers sometimes seen to become less functional as time progresses That's because people actually do less and less with them. They just sit in front of them looking at silly video's like they would sit before tv. Also pc have become as powerful as needed for any "normal" use. So they h...
