Re: Turntable

ah wasn't aware that 78 vinyl existed... but I see shellac recards often enough, the flea markets are littered with them, easy to recognise as well, they are amazingly heavy for just a 10" record :D

I thought alcohol corroded vinyl too btw...

Re: Turntable

lal
also, do you play your shellac records with a normal needle?
because you're actually supposed to get a thicker needle like this one http://www.thomann.de/gb/shure_m78s_monotonabnehmer.htm

Re: Turntable

I also have a JBSystems Q30D, and I can assure that this is good enough for mixing, but definitely not for scratching.
You need to realise that what you want WILL cost you a lot of money, studio32.

Re: ear protection

don't know, their chart lists an enormous drop in the high frequencies... i could imagine someone turning the volume up because the music doesn't sound sharp and crispy

Re: ear protection

i don't think these things are very safe... wikipedia link
musician's earplugs are supposed to provide the same attenuation on all frequencies, which these earplugs don't really have

the best thing to do is to have them custom made, but that costs about 100EUR

Re: DJ Mixing application for Jack shootout

if you just want a scratch sound sure, use terminatorx
but if you want mixing _and_ scratch sounds, there's no way you just 'play' with that
you need to realize there's a lot of practice and skill involved.

Re: DJ Mixing application for Jack shootout

they're going to support it, but I don't know if it's in the code yet

also, it's very silly to scratch with your mouse... i don't know what you're trying to do, but if it's hip-hop then you definately won't be able to do it with a mouse.
you need vinyl control; mixxx supports that and it sounds real

Re: DJ Mixing application for Jack shootout

you can in fact use mixxx with an external mixer, just make one song output to monitor and the other one to master you should definately be able to get mixxx working with jack, maybe you should go to #mixxx on freenode (IRC) and ask for help terminatorx is not even meant to be a djing program, it's ...

Re: Turntable
