Admin Change for LinuxMusicians

Hello everyone! When I founded this board, I was in college and making music daily using a Linux box. I needed help and wanted to connect with other musicians that were using my favorite OS, so I made a place for it to happen. It's been amazing to see the growth and vibrancy of this community over t...

Re: Spammers working overtime

We are exploring options to take care of spam issues. Unfortunately I'm very limited on time right now, so we look at implementing a solid solution most likely in September. In the meantime please feel free to discuss options and make suggestions.

Re: Spammers working overtime

As an FYI, we are running the latest version according the admin panel - phpBB 3.0.10. If anybody wants to volunteer to install a mod it's fine with me. Send me a PM so I can make sure to do a bleeding edge backup and get you access. Also, I'll be a way for some time starting this coming week, so we...

Re: Forum, or, daycare center?

I've only ever locked that one thread. Studio32, you're right on in your approach, IMHO. At this point, I don't have time to run a daycare center, you're right :) So I'm going to have to take the position that if a member can't act like a mature, responsible adult, they'll have to find a babysitter ...

Re: Studio 13.37 YouTube Video

I think we all need to treat each other in a mature, responsible adult way. Even when others don't treat us this way. If we do this, a lot of problems would be taken care of.

Re: Studio 13.37 YouTube Video

Guys, back down on the confrontational tone, please. Vigorous debate is encouraged, but it must be respectful. In practice, this means: 1) Don't tell people they don't know what they're talking about. Show them nicely, if that's your opinion. 2) Don't call people trolls. If they're being a troll, re...

Re: Studio 13.37 is out!

Topic is now locked. Going forward: 1) No name calling, this goes for everybody. 2) If there are concerns about the legitimacy of a user account, please bring those directly to me via with actual evidence. The forum itself is not the place for accusations. 3) Feel free to vigorously debate the merit...

Re: Harmony Assistant

Soundfonts are great, but for ultimate flexibility you have use something like VST instruments. Unfortunately support for these on Linux has to be done through wine, so many glitchy at best. And a full orchestral suite of VST instruments is expensive! Right now it's tough to make realistic-sounding ...

Did you double check that "Disable BBCode" wasn't checked immediately below the text entry box when posting?

Re: Harmony Assistant

Sounds interesting. What is this "virtual singer" plugin? How is the MIDI realization? Does it use soundfonts? I'm not opposed to dropping the cash on a commercial app for Linux if it can do what I want :) Almost all of my notation needs are met with MuseScore, but I'd like to be able to c...
