Re: Libre Music Challenge #22: General Midi
A-Lin Starting off, I didn't like the rhythm of this entry. The usage of the choir patch in this entry also reminded me too much of using Musescore for school/university assignments for music. The guiro feels out of place rhythmically to me. However, it does get better as the orchestration gets laye...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #20: Vitalium
Alright, here are my words . A-Lin - Kermeas I like the hardstyle kick. I also like the melody and harmony. I also like the shimmery pad and the bell synths. I think the switch of meter partway through makes it more interesting. Unfortunately, I don't feel that combining the acoustic-sounding kick w...

Re: Libre Music Challenge #20: Vitalium
In answer to my own question above: the general feeling on unfa's Rocket Chat libre-music-challenge channel was that, yes, this is ok. --- A heads up for potential participants and Linux DAW users: The LV2 plugin version of Vitalium sometimes (always?) doesn't restore its state correctly when the p...

Re: Migrating to FreeBSD
If we're not careful with this conversation, @GMaq might go rogue and rebase AVLinux on to FreeBSD... And then where would we be? For starters, he would have to decide whether to change the name or to just let it be a big lie. Lol It would be a funny way to get people to use a BSD *from an AVL user

Re: Getting a big deep kick drum sound
I have a somewhat clever trick I use to create a phat low end where it didn't exist previously: Really hard highpass, cut at 50hz (or lower if you need it). Sound stops there and the really steep filter slope creates a resonance at the cutoff point. On LSP Parametric EQ, I usually set the highpass t...

Re: Saturation plugins
Try out something by Airwindows like Mackity or Capacitor2 if you're not sold on TAP. Dude makes an insane amount of hardware emulation plugins that effectively can function as saturation plugins. I personally like to use TAP's tape saturation on a lot of things, though.

Re: Libre Music Challenge #19: Odin 2
I voted a bit optimistically haha A-Lin - Staroshiro Very vivid composition. I like it. It really does evoke the image of a starry sky, and I thought the percussion instrument at the start and end is particularly good because it sounds a lot less noisy than mine and more like actual drum skins being...

Never mind, I found out that I needed winehq-staging, not winehq-stable.

Re: I need help installing wineasio on Ubuntu 19.10
UPDATE: I have also since reinstalled with Kubuntu 18.04.3 LTS and the dependency issues have since gone, as the KXstudio repositories are mostly updated for LTS. My new issue is I have trouble registering the wineasio DLL, as if I type "regsvr32 wineasio" or the same thing with "wine...

Re: I need help installing wineasio on Ubuntu 19.10
What is WineASIO ? I've been using Windows plugins now for a year and never saw it. I'm only using wine staging and linvst and it works fine. What is the need for WineASIO ? I want to be able to record my voice with a microphone on FL Studio without xruns. I've never heard of linvst and now that I'...

I need help installing wineasio on Ubuntu 19.10
Hello, I am trying to install WineASIO on Kubuntu 19.10 but I am having trouble with installing it, whether that be trying to compile the wineasio tarball modified with a bit of the Steinberg ASIO SDK or installing it from the KXStudio repos. I am using these two links mainly to help me with the pro...
