Re: Audio Cards that work with Linux. Recommendations?

I maintain a list of the 20 or so audio interfaces I have tested over the years.

Most USB and FireWire interfaces JustWork™ if all you need is basic AD/DA.

Re: Studio One - Linux version

It will be interesting to see what comes of this. Drivers for Presonus thunderbolt interfaces would be most welcome.

Re: MOTU 896 MK3 Hybrid

The 896/828/Ultralite MK3 interfaces are not class-compliant so USB is not an option. You can use it with the FFADO or ALSA drivers over firewire.

Firewire is well supported under Linux.

Re: MOTU 828mk3 Ubuntu Studio 20.04 - working?

If you are running kernel 5.14+ it will be seen by ALSA when plugged in via firewire. It will connect like any other firewire device in Jack using the ALSA driver. Don't bother trying to make it work with FFADO.

The MOTU 828mk3 hybrid will not work using USB.

Re: Networking question: DAW on one laptop, OBS on another

I have a dedicated DAW in the studio that sends multi track to another PC running OBS. If you decide to go that route in the future I made a video] about setting things up. https://youtu.be/QHxPMcTfJ4A

Digigram VX222v2 no VX-compatible cards

I picked up a Digigram VX222v2 to play around with and hopefully do a video on. Curious if anyone has one running on a modern-ish system? I have a AM4 B350 motherboard with two legacy PCI slots. It's using the ASMedia ASM1083 chip. Debian identified the VX222v2 and the controls are available in alsa...

Just letting everyone know the AIO Pro now works on Linux. Now I have to track down one so I can film a setup guide.

Re: What DAW do you use?

I started with Ardour way back when but switched over to Mixbus32C this year.

Works good for broadcast / live stream.

Are you using ALSA or FFADO?

Re: Mixbus v7 experiences, anyone?

Picked up 32C a few weeks back. Using it for live streaming / podcast. Emulation of the 32c channel strip is serviceable. Detects my two control surfaces reliably on startup, can't say that for Ardour. The new dedicated record window is a neat idea. Unfortunately it doesn't see netjack connections s...

Re: Decreasing latency on my FireStudio Mobile on Ubuntu

Your latency will be directly proportional to your Frames /Period setting in qjackctl. 128 is a good place to start for live monitoring. If you were using the FireStudio Mobile as a soundcard (not recommended) yes, it was disabled. No ALSA drivers == not being seen by Pulseaudio. You can use the pul...

Re: Decreasing latency on my FireStudio Mobile on Ubuntu

You will need to blacklist the alsa drivers and use ffado. It uses snd_dice if I remember correctly.

Re: Updated list of Linux compatible audio interfaces

Yes, the 002 and 003 are knackered. You get a nice audible pop in the the recording every few seconds because timestamp recovery does not work on the device.

It's in the does not work category on my list.
